BradG Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I've finally finished a model of my own for the year, although I could have picked a better kit to start with. I bought this for about 9 bucks years ago when it was about the only Mirage III you could buy in the scale. I had visions of converting it into a Mirage V Dagger, but with the coming of the new Kinetic kits, I don't need to do that anymore. There isn't much to say about the plastic, apart from; it's a poorly detailed, ill-fitting, obsolete relic. A Britmodeller member was kind enough to send me his leftover decals from the Eduard kit and these were really nice to use. If you have this in the stash, just buy the Eduard kit. I did get the pink a little dark, but it'll do. Girlscanplay2 1
Girlscanplay2 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Very nice! It looks to me that the real one could have been dark when new but faded over time? Teresa :-) BradG 1

Teresa :-) No, I just painted it far too well. It was painted overnight as a joke, so it was just slapped on. They actually flew it in this colour, but had to remove the pink from in front of the windscreen to stop it splattering over the canopy! Girlscanplay2 1
Lee White Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 To me, the obvious question is.....Why? BradG 1
BradG Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 To me, the obvious question is.....Why? Well I didn't want to throw it out and it wasn't worth anything on the second hand market, so I thought I'd build something that stands out on the model show tables. Plus, the model show I run was doing a special category of 'Make A Mirage', so it was built for that primarily. Lee White 1

Thank you Brad, I appreciate your reply- But, my original, unclear post was asking why they painted a real Mirage pink in the first place. BradG 1
