  1. Hello all was beginning to feel a little bogged down with the FM-2 project, hence decided to go for a palette cleanser with this lovely kit from Eduard. Goodness what a dream of kit which also includes resin wheels, etched brass, canopy mask and a great set of decals which wont get used As if that wasn't enough a few after market bits were also purchased which include:- Montex mask set the yellow nose one is my choice JG3 Quickboost seat with harness Quickboost exhaust set Cockpit side walls were black based and a misted coat of of Hataka RLM02 was added the harness was was picked out with Yellow Ochre from Vallejo and Steel from Vallejo I cut the oxygen bottle down a smidge as it looked a little tall, various bits of etched brass were added and painted using Various colours from the Vallejo palette The prop has been fitted by using 2mm Magnets making it posable as well as easy to remove for painting This has been a great break from the other project and will continue in the back ground as the wings on the FM were attached tonight and should be dry by the morning
  2. I had a good selection for this GB, but decided to go with this as it hadnt featured yet. As per usual with me Ive gathered up a raft of AM and PE to boot. The box is stuffed full of plastic and she's going to be a big bird. Scheme wise gotta be a winter white wash I found the review on LSP so first job was to cover up the panels and rivets on the rear of the fuselage. I'm going to be building what is for me one of the most beautiful aeroplanes ever designed: The wonderful Hawker Fury The Fury I entered squadron service with the RAF in May 1931, re-equipping 43 Squadron. Only relatively small numbers of Fury Is were ordered, the type equipping No. 1 and 25 squadrons. At the same time, the slower Bristol Bulldog equipped ten fighter squadrons. The Fury II entered service in 1936–1937, increasing total number of squadrons to six. Furies remained with RAF Fighter Command until January 1939, replaced primarily with Gloster Gladiators and other types, such as the Hawker Hurricane. After their front line service ended, they continued in use as trainers. It was a fast, agile aircraft, and the first interceptor in RAF service capable of speed higher than 200 mph (321 kmh). It was the fighter counterpart to the Hawker Hart light bomber (which I'll also be building later next year!). The kit was originally issued by Montex but latterly Alley Cat, being mastered by Wojtek Kuakowski who then went on to found the Silver Wings company. when you open the box, everything shouts "Silver Wings": except for the interplane struts and undercarriage which are cast in white metal rather than resin reinforced with brass rod "a la Silver Wings": Instructions are "meh.......... challenging!": but the schemes and decals look good: References: I haven't decided which Fury to finish her as yet, possibly one of these: Fortunately Robert Hardy built one some years ago on Hyperscale so I've copied and printed out his words of advice.   4. So I've done navel gazing. I have four planes in my stash that might qualify for this. Namely, these kits are the Airfix 1/24 Hellcat (tempting), Trumpeters F4F Wildcat (I've had enough of Trumpeter for the moment, after last years builds), and two Tamiya Corsairs (F4U-1 and F4U-1a). I've had Tamiya's wonderful 1/32 kits sitting in my stash for years, together with some after market products for each kit, so it's about time I built them all. I've never built a Birdcage Corsair, so the choice was easy in the end. So here's my offering for this GB. I may add the Grey Matter engine accessory bay kit to this, and I have to make sure I have all the paints needed which I'll sort tomorrow, and then I'll begin. Can't wait to get started .   5. I think it is time to queue up my next LSP project. I want to get out of the 109/190 groove and try something different (for me anyway) and I've settled on a Luftwaffe jet fighter, the Me 262. My subject will be this aircraft... Lots of cool visual features on this aircraft.... the hard mottle on the tail... the blue and white checkers... the yellow numerals... the bold skull badge... so the painting and markings should be fun to do. Here is a profile by Tom Tullis that shows what the entire plane may have looked like... I'll be using the Trumpeter Me 262 A-1a (Heavy Armament) kit. The following aftermarket add-ons have been purchased for this build: Aires Me 262 Resin Cockpit and Wheel Bay set Barracuda 262 Resin Main Wheels and Nose Wheel HGW Seat Belts Montex Super Masks I'm still in the painting stages of the 1/48 Hien build so I'm not sure when this one starts. But before I start cutting sprue, I'd like to take a look at the kit contents and the aftermarket stuff too. Visualizing the build components helps the gears in my head to start turning, identifying potential trouble spots and highlighting options and possibilities.
  6. Here is my recently completed 1/32 Hasegawa Fw 190D-9 build of the JV44 Dora flown by Heinz Sachsenberg known as "Red 1". In addition to the kit parts, I've added the following aftermarket items to the build: 1. Aires 190D-9 resin cockpit set 2. Eduard 190D-9 brass flaps 3. Quickboost 190A gun barrels 4. Eagle Editions 190A/190D-9 Early resin tail wheel 5. Henri Daehne VS111 resin prop 6. HGW 1/32 Luftwaffe seat belts 7. Montex Masks 8. Eagle Cal decals
  7. Good afternoon, I present my latest off the bench, Hasegawa's version of the Mitsubishi A6M2-N Rufe. The “N†denotes the aircraft was actually manufactured by Nakajima (as were all the Rufes). I added the CMK cockpit and used Montex masks for the markings except for four decals not included in the masks. I wanted the aircraft to be weathered but not overly so. The paints were primarily Sovereign Colourcoats with some AKI varnishes and the relatively new AKI panel liners for brown/green and black finishes. The trolley was weathered a bit as they took a beating. Regards,
