Well Gents,
Today I worked on joining the 2 nose cap ends I cut off together and filled, sanded, filled, sanded......................until I now have a perfectly smooth interior after spraying with Mr Surfacer and buffing, it is now ready to start detailing.
You will see I put one of my cast wheels in the pic that I made.
I have started putting on the weld seams on my new 400gal tank I made with 0.4mm rod with one side scraped flat, this is tougher than I thought it would be to get symetrical. There is lots of work still to be done with filler caps, access panels, drains etc. I will post a pic when there is more to look at.
Thanks for looking

Hi Chris
I slung you an email but got bounced back, I will show you in part what I thought might help.
Chris K, beaut Spit, I have been following your progress daily on LSP, very
inspiring. I use Automotive Laquer from paint shops matched by them and then
fine tuned by me, that should work well with the Gunze, I love that laquer
paint it has such a fine pigment and used to use Gunze all the time but you cant get it here now.
Hope this helps ya

Nice work Menelaos
I like the way you fixed the intake, looks as though it will be not so bad after all for those building that kit.
Thanks for the nice pics
Great work so far

Thanks Brian
Thats a real compliment coming from you as I aspire to work to yours and others level.

Well, today I reworked/modified the fuel dump.
Some time ago I made a master for the larger 400gal centreline fuel tank and plunge formed 2 halves. Well I glued them together over a kit 300gal one for strength. Cut the tail off and made a different back end as per my photo's with plastic and CA.
I then found that it wasnt completely round and spent aaaages making circular templates and filling where necessary again with CA & accellerator untill it was a nice circular profile all the way through. There is the odd little bump but nothing that will ever be noticeable as I have polished it up to find any imperfections and cant see them but can slightly feel one with my fingers. Oh well I am sure these things werent perfect anyway.
I just have to scribe detail on and make drains etc.....
Sorry for the poor pic quality, its late and I just cant get a decent shot with the flash.

Wow,
Nnice work on those 2 birds there, you have done a top job with that paint!
Thanks for the inspiring pics, actually the 'K' was always my favourite.
Cant wait to see what you do with a JU87!

Thanks Guys
I appreciate the encouragement,
Jamie & Matt, yes it definately will be a Kiwi bird. I am doing her as a KAHU Upgrade one with the F-16 radar (actuallyif anyone has some leftoverTamiya bits, I would love them), Glass cockpit etc with wrap Euro 1 Green/grey camo. Your right guys Those RNZAF pilots could sure make those birds perform!!!!
Ted, I am looking at casting extra parts made, I have a master for the wheels already and a few other bits. Willy Peeters has the centreline pylon complete and is working on the others as time permits.
Jay I missed that post, I better hurry up and get a few bits over to you!
Had a family dinner last night and didnt get much done because they all left late! but assembled a Maverick and rail with a few mods to match the ones fitted to our 'K's
Thanks

Hi gents
Well after all the awesome work going on here I felt inspired to get the Skyhawk project out again after getting bogged down and grinding to a halt. Thanks to the likes of Jay L, Chris, Saso, Brian etc..........
I sat up late the last couple of nights modeling a storm, which is not like me as I am usually painfully slow. So please dont expect this to be finished in the next few months.
First is some nose detail
Thanks for looking

Great work Adam
I have always fancied that wee plane, but already have more kits to build than 3 lifetimes would take.
I was privelaged to see 5 of these flying together at Wanaka along with the I153's and they are spectacular to watch. Very powerful and twitchy looking. I could imagine quite a handfull even to the experienced pilot. Alas slowly each year they are selling them off but if you ever get a chance to see one in action they are worth it.
Anyway sorry to ramble
I love your instrument panel also, keep up the great work.
Cheers

Amazing work there. At first I thought it seemed a shame to cover all that beautiful work up with paint (I know it seems odd but I really like seeing how things are made)
But you are certainly doing your workmanship justice, In fact I was a little nervous for you!!
Just amazing, I always look forward to this post being updated.
Thanks for sharing and the inspiration

What more could I possibly add Radu, I can hardly believe my eyes. Thanks for the postings and answers, I sure have learned a lot by this thread.
I have been working on my Tamiya 48th RNZAF Corsair as a change of pace from getting bogged down on the scratchbuilding on my 32nd TA-4K again. But thanks to your posts I am keen to get the F4U out of the way for the TA-4 again.
Thanks again and as Jay said, it must be painstaking and I too am envious of that craftsmanship.

I must say that is some great work you are doing mate. Did any of those pics I sent you help much?
It seems to me that you and Radu attended the same scratchbuilding classes!
