Hi Chris, I got some more info regarding the SBD. I Can't find any examples of an overall Glossly Sea Blue. the Dauntless was phased out of front line service from mid 1944. The only thing close that I've seen is a SBD-4 target tow in Sea blue and insignia white. If you want something different you could built the army designated A-24 Banshee. There's a couple of different schemes including a all natural metal finish or olive drab over light gray. If anyone wants to build an SBD you've got to get the Squadron Walk around No. 33, it has fantastic pictures including plenty in colour. hope this helps, JasonC

Hi Chris, I seen a couple of SBD-4/5 painted in the Mid-war 3 tone camouflage. I believe the overall gloss sea blue was introduced to US Navy aircraft in late half of '44 with the introduction of the F6F-5 and Curtiss SB2 Helldivers replacing SBD's. I've got some more SBD reference material coming and I'll forward on any further info I get. Cheers, Jason

Thanks guys for the excellent info. At this stage I'm looking a building a US Navy SBD-4/5 or maybe a midway SBD-3 using Jerry Rutman's backdating set. I know the kit has a few problems and I'll try to fix what I can at my current skill level. By the way has any seen or used the waldron set? Cheers, JasonC

Hi guy, was wondering if any one could help. I want to build a large scale SBD Dauntless. I know there was a 1/32 Matchbox SBD-5 and it was re-boxed by Revell Germany a few years ago and I haven't been able to find one anywhere (I live in Sydney). Does any one know if this will be re-released or if there are other kit about? Cheers, JasonC
