  1. If you saw some of the work I see on the interwebs as far as figures go,you would understand my humble attitude. LoL J
  2. Boris and Shawn, Thanks a bunch for the kind comments ! Maybe if I keep painting and prepping these figs I will eventually get half decent at it ! J
  3. Thanks all,for typing some nice comments and also thanks for all who lurker ! I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving Day.
  4. That came out really nice ! J
  5. Got another fig finished which brings it up to 36 and also a dog. I had some fun setting things in a little scene. This is not how it will end up like though.
  6. Start out with a small vignette to get practice. Maybe one or two figures, etc. I am sure you will do fine ! J
  7. I bought two of those ! Also have the French Lancer with the young lady giving him a drink. I want to get the Russian one too.
  8. Harv,Boris and Chavdar !!! Thanks a lot guys for the kind comments. It has been a rough week. Boris the mane and tail are made from unraveled embroidery thread. I have used this for years. The small hairy area just on top of the hooves was made from cotton. J
  9. Shawn and Boris, Thanks guys for the kind words. Here is the horse almost finished. Still needs a bit and reins and the hook up harness to the cart tongs. Still a bit shiny from the oil paint but a horse shouldn't be dead matte either.
  10. I wish I could use an airbrush ! J
  11. Thanks Brian,I modeled the suitcase on one my Mom owned from the 40s. It was plywood covered in a brown herringbone cloth with leather edges. She got the set second hand from somewhere and I was using the smallest one in the set up until 1977 as a carrier for all my extra guitar strings and power cords, etc. when we were touring. J
  12. Shaka and Chavdar, That is an even cooler name combo than Boris and Chavdar ! Sorry Boris ! Just havin some fun. Thanks for the kind words fellas,I appreciate it as always. J
  13. Troy,Jim and Mark, Thanks a bunch guys for the great comments. I appreciate that a lot. J
  14. Got the cart and its' contents painted up and photobucket is finally back up and (sort of) working I painted the small suitcase to resemble one my Ma had from the 1940s. J
  15. Thanks Boris and Chavdar, Yes,I am into the WWII and almost always build that kind of thing. It interests me a lot. I did build a few things showing the unit I was in during Desert Storm. J J
  16. OK trotting on then ! I started to load up the cart with resin and putty cargo. shot a thin coat of primer on the top of it. Some of the sacks were made in resin to sit flat on the ground so I just added some putty to make them look like they were laying on top, etc. The rolled up mattress is all putty though. J
  17. Thanks for the kind words buddy ! I looked in ready for inspection and I didn't see that project. I went back 6 pages. J
  18. Thanks guys, The harness is made from lead foil,my favorite material for belts and stuff. J
  19. Thanks Chavdar, glad to see some one enjoys my strange humor ! Here is the horse after the putty is smoothed and sanded and the detail brought out by knife. Also added some rib detail with the dremel. I took the top course of boards off the cart. I think it looks more logical now. I slapped a base coat on it and the horse and then added the basic harness. It shows an inexpensive type mostly sewn together, and not the more rugged military type I made for my german limber. A little primer on the horse shows the new detail ff better. Still needs some bits to th harness for the attachment points.
  20. That is mighty fine work there. It all looks great but you really captured the color and texture of that flight deck very well. The figs are well done and all in very logical spots as well. Nicely done all'round, J
  21. Jim,Peter and Boris, Thanks a lot guys for the excellent feedback and comments. I will see what I can do as far as WIP of the horse. It shouldn't be too hard. A greatr ef,once again,is the old tried and true book on figures by Shep Paine. There is a bit in there about the horses that is very helpful, along with very very good figure stuff. From beginning to advanced. J
  22. Thanks Boris All figs are from Masterbox J
  23. After looking at the horse again with a critical eye it made me realize the head was overly large. So...off with its' head ! A resin copy of a Italerei horses' head was found and so replaced the first one. I promise the first head didn't end up in a movie producers' bed ! I also decided to show said horse during a pit stop, getting some water from its' concerned family. Most rural folk really depended on their animals a lot in those days and I figured this would be no exception. So you have to take care of the livestock ! Opah is looking for his pipe "baccee" refill and the goat will provide some sustenance along the way(if it lasts that long)! Thanks for looking, J
  24. Reading these comments makes me think that you probably know how impressed everyone is with this work. I know I am. J
