  1. Hi boys and girls, I've just got a quick update tonight. Earlier today I got to shoot some red for the insignia on the wings and tail codes. I had to wait on the fuselage to get an aligning stencil from sluggo for the right smaller diameter of the red center circle. Here's where we are at the moment: The good part is I kept my fingers out of the paint this time...lol Cheers, Brady
  2. Well Anthony, I'm not sure I can be as much help as I thought I could on the Model 22 as the one of the two threads I was going to refer you to is actually yours...lol. The other one I know you've seen because I saw you commented on it but if you lost it here it is: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=42194&page=1 Cheers, Brady
  3. Hello everyone, I'm back with some more progress on the Zero. I figured I'd be better off to paint the markings before adding the green camouflage so I know I don't get carried away with the green and have it where I need the insignia. So here's some shots of the masks before I laid any paint down. I figured I should put a layer of white under all the red so it was all the same shade since I have to do this for the fuselage insignia to have the white outline I did it for all the insignia and the tail code will be red first. So this is what she looks like with the first layer of paint: Then I'm almost done with all the white and I stick my fat fingers in the paint on both sides of the fuselage....go figure I'd mess it up. I've done some sanding and repainted this since but didn't get more pictures yet. That's all I've got for now, thanks for looking in! Cheers, Brady
  4. Hi Ryan, Thank you for the great piece of information for more differences between Mitsubishi and Nakajima Zeros. I'll leave the counterweighs off the ailerons now. Anthony, If I remember correctly there's been someone on here that made a 22 out of both Tamiya Zero kits that didn't appear to be too challenging of a conversion. I'll see if I can find the thread for you. Cheers, Brady
  5. Hi everyone, I'm back with a couple pictures I promised earlier of what I got accomplished of painting the tabs along with the base color for the propeller. I've also attached the ailerons to the wings, while doing this I realized I still hadn't added the counterweights to them yet, so that still needs added too. I've still got to work on the Alclad. Something about cleanliness of the plastic itself prior to the black base coat I think made parts of the spinner look ugly. That's all for now. Brady
  6. Hello everyone, I got some more accomplished yesterday, I got the tabs on all the control surfaces painted to match the fuselage and wing skins along with the propeller and the spinner painted with some Alclad polished Aluminum. I didn't get to take any pictures yet. I'll post them later. Cheers, Brady
  7. Hi MARU5137, Thank you for congratulating me on my new little one. My girls and wife are my life first, then comes my hobbies like this when there's time. Thank you for your kind words on my model. I think there's not too much more to do before she's finished really, I've been working on the prop this weekend. I want to paint the field applied green camo before gluing the engine and prop in place just so there's less to worry about getting overspray on. So I think I'm real close to doing the field applied green. I've just got to have the time to do it probably all at once. Kev, Thanks for your complements on the model. I didn't really like doing these leading edges either and I'm really not 100% sure I did them totally correct but I used my best judgement here. Next I have to cover them up to prevent over spray from the green that gets painted next. Thanks for following along guys! Sorry I'm slow at this. Cheers, Brady
  8. Hello everyone, I did my best at painting the yellow IFF stripes on the wings today using my Aero Detail book on the A6M Zero. What I learned was there was even two different versions of the sizes of these stripes depending on if it was applied early or late in the war. Here's what it looks like now without a few of the masks removed so the yellow can cure. Thanks, Brady
  9. Hello everyone, I just realized I made a mistake earlier on and totally forgot to paint the yellow IFF stripes on the leading edges of the wings. Does anyone know the actual dimensions/locations of these stripes so I can do them correctly? Thanks, Brady
  10. Hello everyone, I'm back with some progress, nothing that is too drastic in appearance but pretty big steps in progress. The wings and fuselage are now glued together and the leading edges are filled. The rivet details still need to be added back to the leading edges. The wingtips are assembled and dry fitted to the wings for their safety from being broken off. Here's what she looks like now: The filled leading edges: Sorry for the kinda crappy photos, I only had a cell phone to take pictures with. Cheers, Brady
  11. Oops, I didn't give you the third link with the Velvetta Spitfires. Here it is: http://spitfireforums.com/index.php?topic=41.0 Cheers, Brady
  12. Hello Danny, Not to be a party pooper...lol. But, I did want to share these two links with you that talk about MK210: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/454987-BEWARE-NAKED-WOMEN-heck-there-is-even-a-Spitfire-involved-D-Forums http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?96234-Drop-Tanks-Spitfire-P-51-Range They both explain that this Spitfire only got her nose art because Gustav Lundquist had to belly land her in Greenland and the P-51 tanks under the wings took the brute of the damage, thus making her repairable. While Gustav was flying on to the U.K. in a B-25 to get spare parts that's when MK210 received her nose art, while she was grounded in Greenland. Just thought you may like to know a little of the history of your modeling subject. MK210 also wasn't the only one of her kind. There also was MK317 This forum talks about MK210, MK317 and pictures of another time after the war that Spitfires used Luftwaffe drop tanks for what was called Operation Velvetta 1&2 Anyway I'll shut up and let you build you model however you want and enjoy watching. I must ask though did you make the fuselage tank you inserted yourself? If so can I get one from you? Tolly Hello is on my To Do list too. Cheers, Brady
  13. Danny, She looks quite nice! So do you plan to make her historically accurate and do the P-51 drop tanks without the nose art or making her with both and not worrying about total accuracy? Keep up the good work! Cheers, Brady
  14. Thank you Tom for your complements. I've got to say your build looks great too. The tan color is what was called an Amber -Grey that to my knowledge was only uses by Nakajima on Zeros. A lot of it will be covered with a green later for a field applied camouflage scheme. I have to admit I've been having more fun with my addition to the family than I have been having with models in a long time, but that's how it's supposed to be. Brian, thank you for your complements. Cheers, Brady
  15. Hello everyone, It's been a while again since I posted any progress, and I can't say I've gotten lots more done on my build but I've done as much as I could since my wife and I had a baby in the mean time. I've mainly just gotten the landing gear assembled and installed along with gluing the wings together. Here's what she looks like now: That's all I really have to show for now, having a second little girl recently has really limited my time at modeling but they're both worth it. Cheers, Brady
  16. She looks beautiful Markus! Awesome work buddy! Brady
  17. Beautiful work so far Peter. I'd almost say you don't need the book you won in the raffle it looks great you seem to already have it down pat....lol. Not to say the book isn't a nice reference I've used it myself on my last Mustang build. Cheers, Brady
  18. Now if we could just get Red Bull to stop putting their ugly logo on beautiful warbirds after restoration and some real original nose art that would make that shot even better Martin. Awesome build Harv! Keep up the astounding work! Brady
  19. Nice pictures of all of them Martin. Thanks for sharing. I want to do Man O' War myself with the Zebra stripes later on. But I'll be quiet about that now, this is about Hun Hunter. Brady
  20. Martin, Is that the D model of "Man O' War" that you posted like these B model pictures? Cheers, Brady
  21. Looking good so far Peter! I look forward to seeing more of your build, I'm sure it will be great. Cheers, Brady
  22. A 1/32 Commonwealth CA-15 Kangaroo would be cool to park next to the Mustangs. A 1/32 F-82 Twin Mustang would be a great addition too. Brady
