  1. Jerry, I had a feeling there were some LSP members present. Next time we should wear some LSP T-shirts, so we can recognize each other easily. That reminds me I should get one! Mike, Unfortunately I haven't stayed long enough to hear the final results, and they are not available online yet. I did not enter the competition myself, so there was little reason to stay till the end . I'm sure there is someone on the forums who attended and is better informed than me .
  2. Sorry Harv... I paid attention mostly to armor nad LSPs on display ... and vendors
  3. My favorite: and few more:
  4. I thought some may be interested in LSPs showing at Mosquitocon, which was held this weekend in Wayne, New Jersey. As you can see not too many models were entered into the contest. Fw-190 A8 was the best in my opinion. Please excuse poor phone photos ;-) More soon...
  5. The amount of work you have already put into this project is head-spinning ... That's beyond capabilities of 99% of us. Wow, Richard! What a commitment...
  6. I really do appreciate your reception guys! Thank you! How can I not be happy to be back? Simon said: "One teeeny-tiny point before you close up in there: those two throttles would move in unison and therefore should 'dwell' at the same angle (presumably snapped shut as she'll be on the ground with the engine switched off)." I was wondering if anybody will notice. I was hoping I can get away with it, hahaha. You are absolutely right, Simon. Thanks for pointing it out and pushing me to do better. I'll try to re-position throttle knobs all the way to the aft (closed) and keep them both in the same position.
  7. It's been a while since my last update, but it the break was good. I have a lot of energy and commitment now not only to finish this project, but also enhance a few things. Not sure this will translate to better overall build quality though . I started with the fuel tank. I added a fuel line and one for draining the tank. Next was the instrument panel. It turned out the IP in the kit is from earlier version, L-4A. This had to be corrected: I recieved from a friend a set of instrument faces developed in similar fashion as photographs on foil. The detail is great, shame I'm not really able to bring it to full potential because of my skills. Bezels were made out of stretched sprue. I added some more details in the cockpit (throttle quadrant, fuel shut off, trim crank, etc.) and glued in place the fire extinguisher and the back seat. The fuel cut off cable will be installed bit later. Thanks for looking!
  8. Too cool! I really love the finish.

Thanks radial! The reflector of the headlight was made out of kitchen foil, so it was very fragile and difficult to install without wrinkling it. I can't say I was entirely successful . Thicker foil will do the trick, I just didn't have anything suitable on hand. The lens was vacuformed, the bulb is a bead, the headlight body was provided in the kit. On a previous occasion I used thick metallic, soft foil from a neck of a whisky bottle, which I formed on the eraser. That worked much better. Hope this helps.

Thank you again guys. You are way too kind! Heavy weathering seemed like an obvious choice for this model, since the original colors were very bleak and boring. Most of the techniques I picked up here, on the forums - oil dot filter, Detailer washes (thanks Wolf! ), paint chips made with a piece of sponge on a toothpick, etc.
  11. Hey Steve, You can also try making turnbuckles from scratch. They won't look as realistic as GasPatch or Radu's product obviously, but it may do the trick You could combine a method Wojtek Fajga used to produce tubes out of stretched Q-tip with eyelets as in Des Delatorre tutorial. The latter site is an excellent source of various tips - highly recommended lecture.
  12. Wolf, It's such a treat to follow your builds! Pure pleasure ... I want more!
  13. I want one on my shelf too! That would be so cool model to ogle. Can't wait for the finish... Glad to see you busy at the bench, Willi!!!

Thanks again guys for your warm reception of the dozer. Mark, Bird Dog is close enough . It's another liaison aircraft - L-4H Piper Cub. Can't wait to return to both projects!

Thanks Kevin and Harvey! Glad to be back Kyrre, well, I got to be honest. The model is not entirely made of paper. The rivets are BGA balls flatten on one side, the radiator mesh is Radu's photoetched part, pipes are mostly styrene rods, the rubber tubes for hydraulic arms were made of Apple crappy earbuds. There is some wire of course. The rest is paper, card and cardboard

Now it's time to return to my Cub!
  17. This little bugger kept me occupied for almost a year. It supposed to be a test before weathering my M24 Chaffee, which some of you may still remember (I intend to finish it!). As in M24, I did not want to paint entire model, only heavily weather it. You can still see some original gray color of the kit . I tried to modify and enhance a few elements but with various levels of success... Oh, the paper model kit was published by Orlik, scale 1/25. Comments, questions, critique always welcomed!
  18. Love it! Very subtle but convincing weathering. Impressive!
  19. Can't wait for the final photos! Even on the messy bench she looks great. I agree with others, hanging her from the ceiling would be just injustice to your build.
