  1. Personally, if there is not to be any 32nd "walri" in the future, then as far as the CR 42 goes, I myself would be much more likely to by the float-plane version of the Fiat as apposed to the geared version.

    Personally it's more likely I'd buy 5 normal cr.42 than one float-plane...

Another neglected floating biplane is the Heinkel He 114...

  2. filthyfirkin, what would you say for plastic-injected Cr.42 ? :)

Honestly, I didn't plan any swedish or finnish version of the Hart..

Didn't think so:( So I just placed an order with you for the regular Hart:)

An injected 1/32 CR.42??:) :) :) :) Oh that would be just great, my wife would kill me!!!

  3. Great to see some more work on this one Anders. And what a lot of work it seems to be! Still, you haven't put me off building mine yet...

    Kev

Yep, it doesn't exactly fall together...

    VERY cool and unusual subject!

Nice work so far.......I as of yet still am a bite stand-off-ish from vacs

Maybe one of these days after I get a certain B-25 compete. :D

    Great work so far Anders!

    Cheers,

    Brian

Thanks Brian! Don't be....this is my first vac  except for a few 1/48 Aeroclub kits, but they're shake'n'bake compared to this.

More putty applied to wings and horizontal stabilizer, will it never end :crying:

Made a 29ish wheel out of the 1/48 Do 335 wheel.

  4. Small update lots work done last night.

Wings attached. Reinforced with balsa wood from the inside.

    DSCN4410.jpg

Left wing was completely warped and needed a ton of putty to look right.

Wings are on the thick side but that's my fault.

    DSCN4411.jpg

Main gear strut lengthened some 5mm since.

The 1/48 Do 335 wheel seems to measure up well. Better find a flattened resin replacement.

I'm going to do a clear epoxy casting of the canopy.

  5. Really cool Anders :speak_cool: (I love the J-21R...I have just recieved the MM J-21 (Yellow series) book as a Christmas present, so I am looking at doing the same thing as you in 1/32 scale!).

    Cheers

    Derek

    Yeah I like the 21R!

Regarding the (otherwise very nice) book...the 21R drawings are not correct...windscreen, wingtip tanks and other stuff is just copied from the 21A which was way different:(

    Cheers

  6. IT'S ALIVE!!!

Not really, but I thought that I'd say it's not completely dead.

I AM building on it from time to time, but I've got more interesting things going on..

Slightly O/T in scratched 1/48 is another SAAB, the J 21R their first jet and the piece of balsa to the right is :BANGHEAD2: another just started :BANGHEAD2: scratch :BANGHEAD2: Junkers 86K :BANGHEAD2: we'll see about that.... :BANGHEAD2:

    Happy New Years

  7. You do realise that just as you finish this project, someone will issue an injection molded kit of it!!!!

Looks great! Looking forward to seeing this bird completed. <_<

I certainly hope someone will do an injection molded kit of this and all cool swedish aircraft in 1/32!!!

    Thanks!

    Another update!

Need a brake from the wheel wells. Moving on to the cockpit and its surroundings...

    DSCN3298.jpg

    Mostly free hand drawing.

    DSCN3303.jpg

    Cockpit test fitted!

    Canopy needs more trimming.

    ...the dungeon...

  8. Yahoo! (Oops, sorry...Google!). Someone is finally building this one. I'll be following along very closely Anders, as I have this kit too, and it's just about my favourite jet. I always figured that I'd be the first guy on LSP to do a WIP on it, but I'm afraid to start mine. I'll be nagging you for any references, photos and drawings you might have, too. :evil_laugh:

    Kev

    I'll post references

I'm loving this. The Tunnan is great. Reminds me of the projects the Luftwaffe had in store.

Yeah doesn't it! Both 29 Tunnan and 32 Lansen were, imho, inspired by german designs.

At least you have a real one nearby. Visited Linköping museum this year after reopening. Looks nice. Only drawback: They put the moden jets and helis at the ceiling of a dark room, so it isimpossible to get good detail shots. Not to mention to crawl into the UC bays and to look inside the cockpits like at the other room...

    Go ahead! Happy modelling!

    Regards - dutik

I agree with you. Most visitors do, except the politicians and grandma. I don't know how much they paid for the S 31 Spitfire PR.XIX back then but it was alot including a couple of 32 Lansens and now it hangs high above the Catalina...shame

At least the Catalina is beautifully restored.

    Hello Anders,

Nice to see this build in the works in progress section. The Tunnan is an aircraft I like very much indeed (as Kev already knows - I like all of the Saab range of aircraft almost equally as much...It would be nice to see the Swedish preserved flying J-29 whistling around the UK skies!).

I shall watch this build with interest, so good luck Anders.

    Derek

Yeah it is nice to see one flying again. It didn't fly at the big show this summer, I wonder why.

My favourite SAAB is the B 18B twin engine bomber. How about that one in 1/32? :D

  9. An attempt to build a Tigger Models SAAB J 29A Tunnan.

When I bought this kit five years ago I said to myself, this will NEVER get built. Maybe I was right.

    DSCN3007.jpg

Fuselage halves separated an compared to upscaled not-too-accurate Björn Karlström drawings.

    Yes.

    DSCN3015.jpg

    They fit. So far.

    DSCN3020.jpg

    According to 225% Björn.

    DSCN3021.jpg

    Works for me.

    DSCN3241.jpg

This surgery was one of the things that I feared most with this kit. Far from 100% but it'll work. And a small mishap with the first (the right (glued) part) measured/cut door. Easily corrected tho.

Wheelwells next. Fresh photos taken this afternoon at the Flygvapenmuseum Linköping.

Now where did I put that J 29 Spare parts catalog?

    Anders

  10. Yours came in a box? Wow!

    Oh, and welcome aboard Anders!

    Kev

Thank you very much for letting me in :o

Yeah, mine came in a very nice box with excellent boxart, visble in the picture below. And yeah, I started cutting yesterday... :speak_cool:

    More on this another time.

    Anders

  11. Wow, my first post.

There was a full scale wooden mock-up of the new nose built.

Here is a couple of drawings...

    sk29sidebysideimpression.jpg

An aritsts impression of the side-by-side Sk 29

    sk29andj29rdrawings.jpg

The Sk 29 and the J 29R (R for radar)

    j29rinstrumentpanel.jpg

    J 29R instrument panel

    sk29tandem.jpg

and the other two seater, maybe an easier build as the width of the nose is probably the same.

Anyone actually built the Tigger J 29? Mine is still in its box...

    Anders
