I have seen a few threads on reworking some of the 1/18 scale planes around and read somewhere they will be made avaiable as kits soon. Does anyone have tips on modeling these super scale planes? What brand seems to have the best fidelity to start with?? Are they styrene or ABS or what? Can they be scribed and filled like a regular kit? Are they full of foam or something for strength?? A 1/18 F-86 would look reeeeeel nice in my den! Jeff

I read recently that the Hobbycraft boxing of the Trump F4f is the original badly shaped Trump kit! Is this true? How can you tell if it's new tool or old? I was looking to put one on my build pile to do a Martlet... Jeff

Bruce! The cat looks GREAT!! I'm almost giving up on the mostly scratch Has VF-27 bird I have been working on since VJ day '45! One thing.. that pesky misshapen area behind the cockpit is really only apparent on your model IF you look for it, and the invasion stripes do make it a bit easier to see IF you know it's there. It doesn't detract for you model at all so I wondered what you did to minimize it or did you take a wait and see approach?

Manny! I was watching some old disks the other day (maybe "Dogfights"?) and saw a clip of men folding the wing of a hellcat that might make a nice scene. One guy was on the wing near the hinge and as the hinge broke the wing swung back as two other men pushed the leading edge while he walked toward the tip. He then stepped off the wing tip and helped push the leading edge until the wing locked in the folded position. Might that help? I'll see if I can find it again... Jeff

Ok so with your help I can build a decnt model. Good! What about the MIG15? Similar problems??? I'm looking fo that resin set right now and not finding it!!

So a NMF will require a overall sanding job but a painted plane would be ok???

I can't find any info or reviews on this kit... Anybody build it? I don't know my Mig's, is there a good resource for the 17??? Jeff
