Trumpeter A-10A windshield/canopy

I know the Squadron vac canopy corrected the shape issues of the kit transparents but... what about the AFV Club part?

is it a simple (coloured) replic of the Trumpy canopy or has it the right shapes (as the Squadron one), too?

AFV Club part is just the Trumpeter moulding with a coating - I don't have the A-10 one, but I do have the F-117A one.

I wonder if Paul Fisher could be talked into a corrected resin windscreen/canopy like he did for the F-8 kit...

 

The vac correction isn't easy to work with.

As regards the F-117A AFV Clup part, is that a tinted canopy? My Trumpy F-117A is close to final painting now, canopy goes on soon then masking, would prefer a sort of gold tint as seen in photo's.

Yup - tinted. It's OK - not brilliant - but will give an impression.

 

If I recall correctly each pane has a slightly different clear tint.

 

It's tucked away in loft at he mo - I may be able to get to it tomorrow and try to take a photo that illustrates (maybe a review?)

 

You could get a similar effect spraying the inside with a suitable Tamiya clear colour (clear yellow with a touch of clear blue/red?)

 

The moulding *is* most definitely the Trumpeter part.

Thanks Iain, might just give this part a go for my F-117A, looked at it today as coincidence and wondered why I kept putting it off WOW its big ... its so close to finished.
