Thanks Nige (and everyone else who took the time to provide step by step info on this).   I'm going to give it a shot this weekend, just need to hit my LHS and get some sheet styrene and extra sanding films.   

 

Still saddened that the F-4C build I mentioned in the first post is gone.  It was truly amazing and I had planned on using it as a step-by-step guide for the entire build.   Now all that's left is:
