I love reading about this kind of stuff.   Appereantly a group in Russia raised a single seat Il-2 last week.  The story is a good one and the pilot survived to live a long life after the great war.  I had a link saved for you Gents, but now I can’t find it.  Check out the Warbird digest website.  Some interesting pictures of the forward fuselage, entire canopy and wings.  The rear aft wooden fuselage has long rotten away over the years but the entire horizontal tail planes were there to recover.  I love reading about these recoveries and attention to detail not to mention the enormous resources and finances to put them back in the air for us geeks to enjoy them!

Warbird Digest.  Check it out!

Cheers,
