madferret
Does anyone know which version of the F-4J comes with pilots? What does the $120 version include that the $80 version not include? Thank you, Madferret
Gene
For a great analysis of the two Tamiya kits (F-4J Navy vs. Marine) see 'Tamiya F-4 J by Thierry Laurent & Ben Brown' on this site; the link-- http://www.largescaleplanes.com/Marketplac...weaks/F-4J.html It would appear that the 'Marine' kitting has all the sprues of the 'Navy' kit but also has the addition of a 'K' sprue, which is probably all the 'ground support' weapons. Mayby someone can post a scan to the instruction booklet drawing of the K sprue. HTM
Mark B.
Hi Madferret, Gene’s right. The USMC version is the same as the Navy version but you get more decals. Lots of the stencil types. You also get the bombs, ECM pods MERs, and TERs from the F-4C/D kit. And most importantly for any carrier based F-4 you get the empty outer weapons pylons. Most of the carrier-based birds did not use the outer wing tanks because of space constraints on the carrier deck. Most of the time when Navy F-4s flew MiGCAP missions they flew with empty outer pylons or nothing on the outer hard points. In short if you are going to do a J Phantom don't go cheap. Go ahead and get the USMC version. HTH Mark B.
