322SqnNL
Have already made quite some progress on this but figured people may be interested to see what it looks like. Had already built one way way back in my teens straight out of the box but as it goes with all starter kits it eventually was deemed ready for the bin. Taking the hobby back up since the start of 2015 with a completely new mindset and with an identical kit on the shelves for God knows how long, a whole string of aftermarket sets were acquired including the corrected Quickboost fuselage spine (which was about 1mm too short at the tailfin end) and a nigh on impossible to get PE set from Eduard specifically for the XIV (extremely pleased with it, contains flaps and indicator arms/doors). Will be finishing it as RM740 from the time it entered service with 322 (Dutch) RAF squadron about a month before D-day and put it on an Airfix D-Day diorama base from the Typhoon box. Really should have done a duo-build with said poor Typhoon so might start looking at how to approach that. Buggered up the vacuform canopy so had to order a new one, am looking for advice on what adhesive to use in attaching the rear part securely to the fuselage. 322SqnNL
Second wing half just went on and is now drying, thank God the major work is almost finished now. Just need to tidy her up before paint and get the Armycast engine on at the proper angle and in the right position. Like I said, flap indicator arm. No fancy blinkers like in today's cockpits. 322SqnNL
Speaking of said engine, the drawing for RM740 shows circular exhaust stubs however all pictures of 322sqn Mk.XIV's show the fishtail style exhaust stubs. Anyone know what's the deal with that?
