Slim
The J-79 aka Big Loud & Smokin' powered some of my favorite aircraft of all time. I grew up under the wing of F-4s at Tyndall AFB when my Dad was stationed there in the late 60's. Back in those days when he had weekend duty I would go with him and ride the line truck because my Mom worked as well, and they couldn't afford a baby sitter. Try that move these days and see what happens.... I will never forget seeing the Thuderbirds take off in full burner back when they flew the F-4. 8 J-79s blasting by in full honk will certainly get your attention. Menelaos
I wrote some years ago an article (full scale) about my visit at Hopsten AB and the JG72 here for the LSP.... take a look at it if you don't know it yet.... I still have the noise of the F-4Fs double J79 (x2 when two ship formation gone airborne).... amazing....
