  1. Greetings, all. I've been kinda quiet around here lately as I haven't been doing much in the way of LSPs, but instead have been working on a couple other projects. This is the latest installment in my series of nazis-getting-punched-in-the-junk dioramas. I've recently finished a couple of Pritt Buttar's books, one about Operation Bagration and the other about the Russian advance into East Prussia. I highly recommend all of Buttar's books if you're into the Eastern Front as he does a wonderful job of balancing strategic operations, tactical maneuvers, and personal accounts to paint a vivid history of the conflicts in question. Those deep dives into the late-war Eastern Front's unique brand of abject misery are the inspiration for this diorama. Anyway, if you're not familiar with the Russian Red Army's advance into the German homeland in late 1944/early 1945, it was... awful. I won't recite the grim details any more than I'll entertain arguments for or against its justification, but suffice to say the violence meted out upon the German civilian population in the name of vengeance was swift, arbitrary, and terrible. Refugees by the millions clogged the roads as they fled the assured brutality of the Red Army in its lust for retribution. That's the scene and the feel I'm trying to capture here; a little darker than my usual millieu, but the Eastern Front as a whole leaves little room for joviality. The kit is the 1/35 Tamiya Jpz4 L/70 (the barrel was cut off to fit the dio). Figures are a mix of different kits with a little bit of custom sculpting. Water is deep pour resin with an acrylic sheet on top that's been painted to resemble ice. Ice chunks are just the same acrylic sheet carefully broken with pliers. Snow is texture medium from Tamiya and Vallejo. The resin water turned out a little more opaque than I wanted it, but whatever. This was kind of a test build for another diorama I've got in the works, so I'm happy with how things worked. yadda, yadda, yadda... on to the scene. It's early 1945 in the heart of one of the coldest winters on record. Refugees fleeing the advancing Russian army are streaming past a knocked out German Jagdpanzer IV L/70 that has been hit, burned out, then bulldozed aside into the nearby pond in an attempt to clear the road.
  2. Well, I am in. Have Lemkits Il-10 WW2 version in my stash. Low parts count, nice dryfit, pour stubs removed by the manufacturer. Nice, nice, nice Also own a set of gone by the wind Drevo figures, showing two russian pilots in overalls helping each other to leave a crash site. Go, I shall cover! This calls out for a diorama! Overall idea is to depict the Il-10 partially resting in a creek, in a dramatic appearance, stopped by a willow, one wing drownd, with bullet holes, soot covered and spilling oil into the water I. e. I will cut off a large part of one wing. Should save some shelf space too. We shall see how far I come or if this will become vaporware as often with my projects... Regards - dutik

  7. Hi folks, Here is a look at a neat diorama accessory brought to us through Aires and their Aero Bonus line. This resin aftermarket set gives the modeller six traffic cones to use in any contemporary diorama setting. Each cone is made up of two parts and will assemble easily with CA or other suitable adhesive. In usual Aero Bonus style the resin is in a cellophane envelope with a stiff card insert to protect the contents. A single folded sheet of instructions gives the part call out and suggested colour schemes. There is a small decal sheet with black letter stencilling and white bands. (On my set some of the decal's ink had dried to the covering paper.) I'll add an image or two of the finished items in due course. Cheers.
  8. Hello everyone! As I'm working on a diorama for my current project I thought I would ask you about Joefix Studios. I have found some leaves that I'm interested and was wondering if anyone has used their products before. If you have used them, where did you order them from? Cheers!
