  1. Excellent job on the camo and subtle weathering... Congrats! Goose
  2. I'm a Huey enthusiast but build scale r/c stuff. Watching with great interest! Cheers Goose
  3. Well done Keith... I have seen worse dredged up in the jungles and swamps to fly again, so stick with it! Good to see Canterbury colours on her too. Cheers Goose
  4. Wow! I am super impressed... your weathering is excellent and very realistic... Congrats! Goose
  5. Great work Fastzx!... More pictures please Cheers Goose
  6. Any chance you could re-upload the pictures? Disregard that. As soon as I posted your pictures came to life! Great work... thank you. I'm keen to see it. Cheers Goose
  7. Hi Peter.... How about some pics of your WIP? Goose
  8. Hey Tour... Thanks a lot for your input. Those drawings were some I didn't have. I will get ahold of Charles and see if he is willing to part with his... Interesting about the Trumpeter (how do I rename this thread?) 51... again it comes down to the drawings which you are comparing the model to... yours have some good credibility based on your references. Cheers Goose
  9. Superb job Frank, congrats! I am interested in the 'additional' details on top of the internal fuel tank and beside the radio gear... I say additional because I have not seen much over and above the obvious parts. Do you have pictures or documentation to the contrary or is this a little artistic licence? Cheers Goose
  10. Hi guys... Thanks for all the intellegent replies... a welcome change from some other sites. I am one of those who never really got over the Mustang, heck I love pretty much anything from WWII to present but the '51 gobsmacked me as a lad and it never stopped. I have poured over pictures, documentation, plans, kits and real examples for a far back as I can remember... no expert by any means but a 'lifer'... I have the sickness Thanks for the link Mike, I do know about it and hang out there often. It's interesting that all the same issues exist at the scale here and up at 1/4 scale. I'm not in any position to comment which is more difficult because that challenge is the same, each with their own set of problems to resolve. Thanks FMitche... I'm off to read your build now... Well put Silver... Hey Radu... what are you looking for in manuals? I have a pile of pilot pages scanned from originals, send me your email and I will dig out what you need. I agree with your comment on drawings. I spent the early days of my career hand drawing mechanical details before moving to CAD in the late 80's. Now we regularly design and draw to 4 decimal places and can reproduce drawings exactly the same all day long. Ah technology... its all good. Cheers! Goose
  11. Hi Jeff... Oops! Yes, don't know what I was thinking regarding the scale... Thanks for your reply. I have a much better understanding of what to look for and think about. I hear you on the 'how far do you go' question, it happens all the time in r/c scale. Cheers! Goose
  12. Hi and thanks for looking... I'm sure walking in here for my second post of all time and waving the scale authenticity flag is not a good idea, inciting a similar response to staunch supporters of 'plan x' or 'manufacturer y' but solid discussion is, to me, always a good thing. My question is two part. What is your first-hand opinion with regard to the scaleness of the Trumpeter P51-D Mustang in 1/24th [edit:oops! sorry] scale? Secondly, What are your favoured brands of the largest scales for reasons including scaleness? I always buy the largest scale model of whatever I am building (for r/c) for reference and need to have more than faith that they are accurate. I have seen some of the amazing work you gents execute in here, modifying specific models and figure this is the best forum to ask the question. Thanks a lot Goose
  13. Thanks guys... appreciate it. The plastic model is for reference to construct the 'big' one... I'm assuming (dangerous, I know) the larger the scale, the more chance of accuracy, but I have been bitten by that theory before. I will hunt around for the 32nd and failing that, the 48th. I dont know how you guys do such a great job with the smaller scales, that would drive me crazy! I was all proud having made some 1/5th scale 12mm (1/2") hex nuts and washers for my cockpit when the guy in the next cubicle at work laughed at me. He proceded to show me his small scale cars... insane! I need to show him some of the work here with 72nd scale stuff... Cheers! Goose
  14. Hi all... This is my first post I actually build large scale (1/5th and larger) scale r/c WWII fighters. I signed up here to learn from you... masters of realism, in the hope that my aircraft will benefit from the tips and tricks of plastic models. You guys amaze me with both your skills and accuracy of information... hard to come by these days. Anyways, the EA6 Prowler is my favourite jet and one that I would like to model (1/6th scale, turbine powered) at some stage. I usually buy the largest plastic model I can find for reference. Who makes a large scale, accurate EA6? I have run into issues with a Mustang kit, but thats another story. Cheers! Goose
