  1. Thats bees knees! Excellent work, any more pictures of the underside weathering treasures?
  2. Hello all, i hope you have been keeping safe. I decided to do another one of Trumpeters Me262 A-1a's knowing that some of the issues could be fixed. As many are probably aware the weapons hatches on the front are pretty poor in shape and form, so this was addressed and hopefully look pretty decent this time. EagelCal decals were used for this aircraft plus Quickboost seat and Brassin wheels. Paints used were C117, C121,C122 all from Gunze. As ever, please feel free to comment on the build even if you think there could be improvement's Thanks for looking!
  3. I used GS C334 (plus a bit of added green) CC335 and C332 for this build. I did have an FS number somewhere for the radomes but for the life of me u can't find it, but what I found was Halford's primer is a very, very close match and that what I used in the end. The RBF flags are big IRL as they are meant to be seen and not forgotten, and they are very close to what I remember...but if they aren't, its Eduards fault lol
  4. Hello all, I hope everyone is keeping well. This F-4J is built from the Tamiya kit, so there maybe a few inaccuracies in the final make up from the real thing, so apologies for that. It had been a 'thing' I have always wanted to build but sadly we don't have a good 1/32 F-4 that is suitable for the RAF except these of 74th Squadron that were directly imported from the US. Only add on were the smile lights that came from Eduard, painted with Gunze paints and all stores are fitted with magnets.
  5. Thanks Ernest, I think the white wash turned out well due to it not being white....thats to say I mixed some brown and blue into it to give it a chilly feel. As above, white never looks right, a few drops of brown and blue give it that feel. High praise there Chuck, thank you so much for it, much appreciated.
  6. Hello all, keep in safe I hope. Well this Ju-87 was started at the same time as my 109 (1/32 Bf109E White 13 'Another sortie done' - Ready for Inspection - Large Scale Planes) due to the hope that I would be getting some nice wintery weather as a back drop for the photos........but sadly like 2020 its self, it didnt work out! So, onto the plane, it went together very well without any fit issues at all and painted with Gunze paints. No after market pieces except some homemade seat belts and then weathered with oils. Ok, some might reckon its over done but this was an effect I was after on this one :-)
  7. Thanks Gazzas, I used to to have a lot of trouble blending oils like you but I found it was due to not have a good matt surface for the oils to grip to. Start small and build the colours up, for this I use small eye make-up applicator sponges which you can buy cheaply on ebay.
  8. Thanks for the kind comment Kev, It's Trumpeter's kit 02288 Black n white you say.... How's that?
  9. Hello all, this is my little attempt at another 109. I've been trying to expand my techniques with this one and a few of the experiments have worked pretty well.....i think?! For the first i have really gone down the post-shading route and add to that more oil paint weathering, i had always been disappointed with my oil weathering but i found the flaw in my technique....its wasnt done on a matt finish, so problem solved me thinks. Painted with Gunze Mr Colours paints and MRP matt varnish to finish, so let me know what you think on the weathering, did i get it to work better?
  10. Good question and well spotted, but the person that wanted this stated the need for a pilot (which not my forte, i'd even pay someone to do them....please message me if any member would) so the seat belts wouldn't help the pilot seat correctly. Me personally, I prefer it without a pilot as you can see more detail inside the cockpit, i suppose it gives someone the option to do whatever they like keeping the belts of in this case
  11. Hello everyone, I hope you all are keeping safe. I've just completed the 1/32 Tamiya F16CJ and thought I'd share a few pictures of it, i swapped the static dischargers for the superb Master set (AM-32-084) as the kit parts looked a bit too chunky, MasterCasters Soft FOD inserts, other than that...its out of the kit box. All comments welcome....stay safe folks!
  12. You had me looking to see if there was one that had decided to get into the photo shoot lol
  13. Hello all, I picked this kit up a while back and only just got round to it.....thank you lockdown. This is the Special Hobby kit of the Hawker Tempest, soon to be released via Revell again so I'm told. Its not a bad kit but has a few fit issue so I'm not sure if Revell will be correcting these issues, but they aren't nothing major and can easily be fixed. As with all my builds, the paints I use are all Gunze Sanyo. On this build I tried to keep the weathering to a minimum and only really added some weathering to the wing rout walk way areas.
  14. Weathering one of them personal choices, I like mine to look like they have been on a few missions and that's where I find it hard to stop....but sometimes, less is more. Thank you all for the kind coments
  15. Thank you for your kind comments, the base is pretty simple.....if you have the tools. Its a large 20mm thick floor insulation foam square, I cover it with a brown tile grout mixed with real soil and cover with PVA. Then its a simple task of putting random sized static grass down with a static grass (old fly zapper modified) to get the grass to stand up, there are many videos on YouTube on how to do it....hope that helps. Many thanks to everyone else for the kind comments
  16. Blooming heck, thats a bit special! Well done, could I ask what paint you used for the light blue/grey as I can't ever get it to look right. Many thanks
  17. Hello all, I hope you all have been surviving lockdown by modelling-on.....this is the second Jug of lockdown. I set about Trumpeters P-47D Razorback version this time and found that the Razorback was a bit more of a drama than the Double top version, I think it maybe a different mould completely. Its a little tricky to get together and line up, but as long as you proceed slowly with the build, you should be fine. I added a few aftermarket pieces, these were the resin wheels by Brassin and the gun barrels set from Master (32115) and I get rid of the metal seatbelts and made my own from masking tape as I can never get the photo etch belts to 'sit' right. Paints were from Gunze Mr Colour range and as ever.....are brilliant. I added some magnets into the wing where the pylons attach, then added some magnets in the pylons so the lower wing is untouched for displaying without the pylons attached or kept clean. So here is aircraft 42-75242 which was flown by Capt Michael Quirk flying for 62nd FS/56th FG, Halesworth. I'll add a link to the Bubbletop..... Thanks for looking :-)
  18. Thanks for the kind comment, the paints I used for the NMF were 218 (Aluminium) and 213 (Stainless). The majority of the plane is 218 but I used the 213 for adding scratches on the NMF to distinguish the marks. Well the first step is to paint the prop Silver and cover that with a very tough gloss lacquer varnish and then scratches are built up in the subsequent lighter paint layers, I use 240 grit sanding stick lightly on the surface (in the airflow direction) then build the paint up and repeat the scratching with a lower grade sanding stick till you get the effect you're after. Once that's all complete I tend to so a some more weathering using the salt techniques to add a bit more realism and by then the scratches are very fine and not so obvious. Many thanks to everyone for your kind comments, Jug#2 will be done soon so keep your eyes peeled
  19. Hello all, I hope you all have been surviving lockdown by modelling-on.....I have. I set about Trumpeters P-47D bubble top version and I was pretty pleased with the kit, I have but the Razorback version and that game me a lot of issues, so this was a surprise and a pleasure. I attempted for the first time a natural metal finish (NMF), so I tried using extreme metal paint by AK and I found them very fragile and had to have a change of plan. I opted for the Mr metal colour paints by Gunze and these were fantastic and very durable when applied. I added a few aftermarket pieces, these were the resin wheels by Brassin and the gun barrels set from Master (32115) and I get rid of the metal seatbelts and made my own from masking tape as I can never get the photo etch belts to 'sit' right. Anyway, here she is...…..I give you Miss Fire which was piloted by Piot-Frederick Christensen in England 1944 All comments welcome :-)
  20. Hello all, I hope everyone is keeping safe in these crazy times. While I have been off due to this enforced lockdown I started the Trumpeter ME262 A-1a heavy armament kit and wanted to do it in the colours of yellow 3 from KG(J)54. The kit decals seemed a big 'off' so I invested in Eagalcals #95-32 sheet and the colours seemed much better than the kit originals. I have been my best to get the scheme right, but even I will admit that its not quite right, but I think it looks pretty good, certainly a good learning session for sure. Painted with Gunze Sanyo (best paints EVER in my opinion) and weathered with oils. I'd like to add that the markings aren't symmetrical as that's the way they are on the original aircraft (very odd that) All comments welcome
  21. I was planning on getting some chokes and RBF tags to set the diorama off, but I couldnt find many photos of where I could place the tags sadly, getting them wrong would look worse than none at all. Tha is for everyone's kind comments on my aircraft, much appreciated :-)
  22. Hello all, I have been rather busy working of late but I have found time between working with real aircraft to finish my F-4D. Im sure many are aware that the Tamiya kit is a dream to build and goes together very well, I used Mr Colour paint which I believe are the best on the market at the moment, the colours I used were 303 (FS34102), 310 ((FS 30219) and 320 (Dark Green)……….and black for the bottom :-) Sadly the decals were in a poor state and fragmented as soon as they hit the water, so I purchased the Warbirds Decals set (32009) which were superb and set well on the aircraft and into any details very well and recommended. I didn't like the fit of the intakes to the ducting, so I thought it a far better idea to use the Quickboost (QB 32089) set of intake covers. The seats are aftermarket, but I cant tell you who made them as they came free with the kit (from a certain auction site) All the weapon pylons are removable, this is done using small earth magnets in the wings and pylon locations. I hope you like it, it is certainly my best build so far. All comments are welcome, thanks for looking
