Wow - looking great and speeding right along! You will have the fuse closed in no-time!
Love this airplane though the lozenge on the fuse kinda worries me - not sure how I would do that so I am interested to see how you accomplish that
-
I am terrible at completing models even for group builds but the WNW Fokker looks to be pretty straightforward without a bunch of complicated rigging so I will give it a go.
So far lots of parts cut off sprues, some paint shot over the interior framing and I am taking a shot at drawing my own decals for it and those are about done.

That is a great price - can you also build the C version from the A+ kit?
How is the ordinance in this kit? In particular the snake eyes (I need a bunch of 'em)

This link has some nice pictures of rigging and turnbuckles along with drawings of them and one modeler's steps at rigging a Nieuport - I found it helpful:

Simply outstanding DVII and what a great collection of WW1 subjects!

Hi Petrov,
It is much easier to tie a single knot and then apply a spot of superglue. The EZ line takes holds very well with Superglue.
Thanks! Any special knot you are using to tie them?
-
Wow - those look great - I just received some myself and hope to try them out this weekend.
So you are threading the ez line trough the turnbuckle hole then tying them off? Or just gluing? Either way it looks very convincing!

Wow - that looks fantastic - definately want to do that scheme myself (along with three others lol)

Looks like I need to get on board with this Roden DR I I keep hearing about. Overall reviews of the kit do seem to be positive. There is still plenty of room in the model business for duplication of kits. Dragon and Tamiya are in a bit of a 1/35 scale armor war right now and each makes duplicative models of a variety of subject matters.
Concerning the Roden DRI - I recommend getting the "Encore" version from Squadron - comes with a bunch of extra resin, photoetch and a figure of Werner Voss. It is boxed as the "FI" triplane but you can easily build a DRI, maybe just need to get decals (Pheon has a bunch and others as well.)
Right now the Encore is $29.39 at Squadron with their 30% off sale (have to add it to cart and checkout to see that price) - IMHO this is a good deal for a decent kit. I have two of them and am damn tempted to get yet another at that price

Most excellent - very colorful and looking great!

I think on all of the examples save the blue one you would have to paint the larger "non-fabric pattern" lozenges on the center section of the top wing though? Or maybe I need to look at the decals again....
-
And both Albatros versions are still just $59 each, with no shipping and no tax.
Yeah, I gotta wonder if those original releases are going to run out of stock in the not too distant future though - like the kits that have already gone by-by.
-
Tom
True but the cost of the kits have risen from $59 to now $99. That's a pretty hefty increase.
Peter
The original two seaters released three years ago were $79. Those released last year went to $89, now $99. The single seaters have progressed similarly with some variance - the Sop Tripe is $69, but there are fewer decals in that one for instance....
I guess what it comes down to for everyone if the prices are unexceptable or unreasonable to you then speak with your wallet and look elsewhere or buy HE219s
-
I can't speak for the WNW increase in prices, but I still think they are worth it. I mean shoot, look at the DVIIs; five and a half 8"x11" decal sheets in one kit? From an aftermarket company five sheets like that would be $50+ in total or more would they not? A lot of WW1 kits dont even come with the lozenge decals at all or the colors are so wrong it is almost silly.
A fair number of option parts and extras in the kits as well - different props, engine bits, multiple radiators, cowls, etc. The Hannover more expensive, but it is a two seater with a bigger wingspan etc. but it also comes with extras, bombs, flare racks, grenades, cameras for the observer, etc.

To all the WNW lovers, you can keep your "little Fokkers".....My Revell He 219 just arrive, door to door for $52 USD free shipping. Huge kit.
Bi-planes are for kids.........Bring on the schrage musik !

I was going to make a retort to that in defense of us "kids" who like biplanes but figured what is the point. I am glad you like your HE219.

Wow I think my head just exploded - what a surprise!
-
Sure - will put up my opinions as soon as I get 'em.
The Sopwith Tripe is frankly awesome - I have a start on it and so far plastic just doesn't get any better than this....
Of course their older stuff is fantastic too so no surprises here
-
Yeah, I got an order in real early I think - my tracking shows the kits already arrived in the states - hoping maybe see them tomorrow or Saturday.
-
That really rocks - fantastic build!
-
In 1/48 Koster does a vac conversion as well - I believe that is still available and far, far less than the CE gets on ebay now....
-
If you wanted to make the Nieuport 17 even better, you could kitbash the Nieuport 24/27 from Roden with it, or add the interior set that Derek did for MasterCasters (cowl and wheel set or interior set). Or just build it as is.
Tnarg
Yes the MasterCasters interior is a big improvement (see my build below) though I found it somewhat challenging to fit to the kit. The kit is not bad, just really light on interior detail. I think I paid $8 for mine not too long ago - hard to lose at that price!

Not preordering here, but likely to get one eventually. Price is high but pretty much what I expected - big kit, lots of details etc.
