  1. My update will take longer, i am stuck in Fort Lauderdale with a grounded airplane, if we find the part i will be home by mid week Jorge
  2. hi there, this will be my last update for the next 2 weeks, all the wing is painted, the big part of it is done, now comes the small details all around the wing, the insignia are painted alsothat is the only way to have faded insignias i like so far how it looks, first here is a wide view of the upper side then the lower side PS: all the wing pieces and engine are dry fitted that's why the gaps are visible now a closer look on both sides and finally a general look of the soon to be F4U-1A at least it looks like a corsair already best regards Jorge
  3. guys, thanks for your kind words on my job, i will try to post another update by the end of the week, next week a will be gone out of the country from monday to monday so the corsair will be sitting in the closet till i come back
  4. i am here again with some pictures, i assembled the outer wing panel and dry fitted in the wings to see fitting, as usual in tamiya, the fit is perfect so i can paint them apart then glue them together (inner and outer wings), also painted the under side of the center wing as well did the right upper surface of it, need to add the exhaust stains on the belly not sure how i will do it here are the pics, i hope i am not boring you guys with lots of pictures of the same pieces over and over again general look of the bird
  5. speachless, after seeing those cowling flaps, this will be a great Bent wing bird, i will keep looking for sure, and i will need to add some detail to mine as well, thanks for sharing Mal
  6. how can i tone it down chuck?, ideas always welcome
  7. David, i am using the colors Tamiya tells me on the instructions, even if i lightened the intermediate blue still dark to me, i am after Boyington's bird And thanks for the encouraging words from all you guys
  8. worked today on the dark blue and some chipping on the inner wing, so far happy with the blue tone, but i am not sure if the chipping is ok, something is bothering me, found out that the blue is a pain to fade it and weather it, it look like it will stay this way Please i will appreciate any critic good and strong (bad) on this test
  9. did you went off road with it???? looks cool this way I also use flory washes on my model, and it is great stuff
  10. Loic, thanks to you my corsair will come to life with your set
  11. finally managed to find some time to sit in front of the desk, started the center wing assembly and painted the wheel wells i think they look ok here is a picture of the wheel wells without the gear and here with the landing gear also i tried the color of tamiya for the rudder
  12. this will be the last update for 8 days, got to fly out of the country, i finished the propeller, looks worn but i think it is ok if you visualize this birds working on sand runways on the airplanes i fly the propos get worst in paved runways so i thinks this one is ok for my taste and here is a general view of the bent wing bird so far, little by little is starting to look like a Corsair
  13. Hi guys, not much done so far, just finished both main gear and tires, to me they look ok, need the opinion if something is missing or wrong Also i managed to close the fuselage and the engine accessory compartment is almost done, some minor touch up to do
  14. Niice, another corsair beside mine, this would be great to follow, love modifications on this scale, waiting for more Jorge
  15. little update, the after market engine accesory section almost done, need to add some wires and hoses also the tail gear housing painted, we all know that most of it wont be visible again, but had to be painted and the fuselage ready to be closed, with the Eduard resin cockpit module in place
  16. thanks guys, Loic, yes it is yours jejejeje and i like how the corsair looks with the engine accessories area open ,i will open just the left side
  17. Hi guys,as you may know i have posted some pictures of the cockpit already, this is my new proyect, i hope it will turn ok, this time i will build in a different sequence, i will start with all the smal pieces like cockpit, engine, landing gear, doors , and extra aftermarket pieces then i will start putting all together, so in the beggining you only will see pictures of this parts then will come the build itself. I started with the EDUARD resin cockpit modified so it will be a 1A, here are some pictures too bad that most of the details will be hidden once the cockpit is close in the fuselage, that is why i took this pictures this is the model engine, just added the wires, the exhaust is just dry fit at the moment, but the joint of the exhaus wont be visible thanks to the cowling flap doors also added the accesories gear box to the back of the engine, some of it will be visible after it is done one modification will be the removal of the left side access panel for the portion between the engine and the fuel tank
  18. Bill it fits both, this cockpit will go into the 1A, just need to fill a small gap on both sides of the head rest structure and the fuselage, they have different shape, the rst will go great, and also need to trim the side panel to fit the fuselage, as always the resin kit dont fit like a glove, the triming will not harm the cockpit because when the fuselage is closed you only will see 20% of what is inside,
  19. thanks for your kind words guys, despite the resin master piece this is, as always they dont fit as easy as the instructios says, some tweaking on the resin pieces made it fit inside the fuselage and looks quite amazing, i hope some days the people that makes resin parts for models will do a replacement kit that will fit with any problem at all, when these day comes i promise i will throw a big party
  20. MODEL KIT INSIDE ANOTHER MODEL KIT I needed a rest from the Sabre so i did the first step of my next proyect inside another proyect, this is the 1/32 resin cockpit from Eduard for the Tamiya F4U-1 that will be fitted inside my F4U-1A that is on the shelf waiting its turn, too bad that when the cockpit side panel come in place you wont be able to see almost nothing inside, that is why i took this pictures, hope you like it If you want to see this pictures with better quality you can visit my profile on Facebook Best regards Jorge Oppenheimer
  21. Thanks guys for you kind words, Matt i use Micro Sol for the decals, i wet the surface with the liquid then apply the decal, then i wet the decal with micro sol again let it dry then apply the liquid several times till it looks like paint, after that i use tamiya weathering white over the decal to reduce the contrast of the color and to make it look like faded paint and not the glossy look of the decal. Somnas, i dont seal the aluminum powder at all, if you seal the surface you will loose much of the metal look over the plastic
  22. Lee, you are right, the model is not finished yet, nee to paint the black nose and more details and pieces yet
  23. Small update, just some more decals specially the colorful HUFF
  24. Hi Brian, nice to see a buckeye in 1/32, one little detail you need to account for, the rear seat sits too low if you compared to real one, also the front instrument panel lack of the extended glare as you can see in back seat driver panel, they have to look exactly, if you want here is a link of a work in progress with the details corrected http://scalespot.com/onthebench/t2buckeye/build.htm
