  1. What I would say is that regarding the only known machine I know (late fieseler FW 190D-9) converted to D-15 , I don't think the inside where painted . But there is no evidence also that they were not painted too ! Eric
  2. Very nice work I may just suggest that the inside surfaces of FW 190Ds where left un painted , no need to paint them, time and material saved . Eric
  3. HELLO I can confirm you understod well Jerry's instructions .The panel lines and the bump in red should be removed for a Mimetall built Fw 190D-9 . The resin replacement part was generic to offer several options within the same separate piece. The nbump between both latches has to be kept . The lower part is fixed on the engine ncowling side panels Congratulation for the scale model . Eric Larger
  4. Yes faboulous Work Dave May I add2 photos , comming from our book 'Fw 190D - Camouflage and Markings part I , JaPo ' The first one in colour enables to confirms one coulour on upper sides RLM83 on engine cowling and RLM76 on lower surfaces of the engine , plus athe black exhaust area . The not the very pale yellow applied on spinner front part . The second one , in black and white , enables us to see patchy repair areas (RLM76)on the starboard upper surfaces . This could explain why the W.Nr was painted in white . The tail unit should have been repaired and received a layer of paint . There are several other examples (in our second opus due in few weeks) , you will see that even if the career of this aircraft was short, several machines went to repair before returning into service . Unfortunatly it is not possible to determine which canopy was installed on this particuliar FW 190D-11 , but if we conclude it was a 'standard' FW 190D-11 , this one should be blown as all known and photographicaly iluustrated FW 190D-11s, W.Nr 220009 , 220011,220014,220017 . Hope that helps . Eric
  5. Hi guys No excitation at all , just the wish to share with modellers , the small point of detail I discovered and that could be reproduced on large scale models . I always do this , not only on this site , for me "knowledge" or findings should be shared . That appeared interesting for me to do this on this forum , I like very much, as I am a modeller since 33 years too. Now as I said to all of you, previously , there was nothing more behind these posts than my personnal modeller point of view . If someone would guess to see something else behind these posts , I can just write him these simple words : "he is on the wrong way" . But of course I would respect his point of view , and hope mine to be accepted in return too as I am , for sure , the only one to know the real reason, explained above , for this . All the best Eric
  6. Hi guys instead of a long description , for me to close this serie of posts , Please find 3 extracts of photos of FW 190D-9s from 3 different manufacturers , and you will see that the overall shape of the resin part is ok but that bumps are present or not on such or such aircraft . I could say that I would use the resin parts as a base for a scale model project modifying them or not according to the machine I would represent . My point of view was a modeller 's one , and nothing more . Pointing out these details for large scale models seems interesting for me and for other persons discussing on this forum . And I may add also that it would be crazy for me to initiate any revalty or 'something like that' with Jerry,as both projects are covering the same subject with a different and complementary angle of approach . The benefit will be for enthusiasts that will have a larger cover of the machine . I may add also, for those you like to know more... , that on some earlier projects we shared documents together regarding a particuliar Fw 190D machine , so .... Life is not not always binary opposition , things can progress in parallel without any problem for all actors . Now if there was any mis-interpretation of my few lines dropped here , I am really sorry for this , but that was not my initial thought on a scale model discussion forum ! I can understand and accept any point of view , please find mine too . All the best Eric
  7. Hi Jerry First , why so much hard words ?? I am really surprised ... as you can see through my posts I am impatient , as a Fw 190D-9's fan, to discover your publications. I would not critisize , this is not my way of acting, , on an open public forum, any product or any publication from your company , further more I bought decal sheets, resin pieces and books , so ... Just for you , that there was not critics about the products but they are perfectible , regarding the specific scale model you want to build . This is what I said previously , no ? Now modelling is boring , if there was nothing to sand off or modify , isn't it ? cheers too Eric
  8. Hello Matt No I am not offended by anything in anyway . Discussions forum are done to discuss ! Having readers and modellers opinion is always positiv . It is also nice to hear or read the reactions about our conclusions and /or point of view ,and I can say that JaPo, Marc and myself were surprised and pleased of the thoughts of readers . There is still work to do on Volume II , but the end is not far . In fact , it took much more time than previously thought to organized and define camouflage schemes for this book as it covers 3 different manufacturers with for each of them an different interpretation of the painting instructions . The hardest chapter to complete was the one dedicated to Fieseler's Fw 190D-9s as several batches had only the W.nr painted on port side, so to classify them and analyse correctly the production batch they were attached to took a lot of time . Of course it is interesting to see that new books happened ,as since Monogram Publication Close-Up and Le Focke Wulf 190 (J.Y Lorant, J.B Frappé) produced years ago were issued , nothing really new happened to summurize and detail the painting of this machine. All material was existing since the photos or the reports were done 61 years ago . I took 15 year to me and Marc to complete this study oin our free-time. Personnally I am also waiting for the issue of Eagle Publications 2 volume studies , they will probably a nice complement to our work , another approach , other unpublished photos . Thanks for all Eric Larger
  9. Hello Yes these parts corrected the space and shape between the gun through , is this terms they are accurate , but the layout of the smal bumps is not correct , of course the bumps can be sanded off , but you should be careful of the model you wand to built regarding the manufacturer . No for the moment nothing is planned to produced thses resin parts . To summurize , they corrected the space between the gun though , but the small bumps are not really the good ones . I just want to say that it was to simple to resume the Fw 190d-9's gun cowling to only 2 models threr are several more . All the best Eric
  10. Hello Just in reaction of the last updates concerning the Eagle parts Fw 190D-9s gun cowlings . These pieces are nice , but are not accurate regarding our researches on this particuliar aircraft . It is too much simple to resume these cowlings to only two variants . One made of 5 pieces and one made of 3 pieces . In fact there are several more variants , one or more by manufacturer . The recognition points are the bumps present on the gun cowling and /or the engine cowling corresponding . For example Focke Wulf built machines have either a 5 pieces or a 3 pieces gun cowling with a bump on the rear part , but no bump between the 2 latches on each side . On contrary Mimetal built machines had a bump whose upper part is present between both latches , but no bump at the rear . The lower part of this bump is present on the engine cowling upper side . But do not forget also that canabalised part existed also , one gun cowling of a manufacturer installed on an aircraft produced by another manufacturer at unit level !!! You will see more example in our second volume on Fw 190D Camouflage and markings that will be soon finished . We are late but we had a lot news photos and documents to complete it . All the best Eric
