mz826
I have some decals I am going to use on the Mosquito I am working on. The scheme I am doing requires dull red decals for the squadron code and the ones I have are an off white color. Can I paint them with my airbrush? If so would I better do do it before or after they are applied? Thanks in advance, Graeme
LSP_Ray
Instead of trying to paint the decal, why not create a mask and paint the model direct? I have copied a decal onto paper, then after laying Tamiya tape on a flat surface, traced the decal image onto the tape. Then, cut the latters out of the tape with an Xacto knife. Peel the tape off and place it on the model and airbrush away. And I did it with a slogan in cursive Cyrillic for a tank. I would think code letters would be pretty easy. BTW, Montex has some letters in 1/24 for their masking sets for the 1/24th Mossie, Spit and Hurri so you might go that route, too.
dodgem37
I have painted decals in the past. What I've done is cut out the image without the perimeter clear decal and stuck it on some tape to hold it in place before I painted it. It water slid as usual. HTH.
