pennausamike
My primary building interest is the USAAF Daylight Bomber Offensive over Europe. For the German aircraft, I tend to focus on the heavier armed variants. I built this Revell Bf-109G awhile ago. It was one of the nicer models I ever built, but shelf time and moving has taken its toll. The antenna and mass balances have been broken off, and the retractable landing gear droops. Those are easily replaceable/ fixable, tho', and I'll get around to it one of these days. On the plus side, the Aeromaster paints, which looked beautiful when first applied, still look great, with just the right balance between flat and sheen. I built the underwing cannon gondolas from Revell Typhoon bomb wing racks. I hollowed out the area under the cowling bumps and put ammo chutes with photoetch ammo belts leading into the guns, (the only AM on the kit.) I forgot to take a close-up of the engine, so it is one more item on the "to-do" list. I really like the slightly different paint scheme; the other '109 I plan to do is the Hasegawa Bf-109K with the brownish scheme seen on the back cover of the old Squadron In Action book. pennausamike
My other Messerschmitt is a cannon armed Bf-110G with the two 20mm and two 30mm in the nose, plus the belly mount twin 20mm's. The empty underwing rocket launchers are drinking straws with mounts made from German machinegun tripod legs. I spent some time on the details that could be seen by removing panels. Once again, the only AM are the photoetched ammo belts. I built the twin MG mount out of MG-34's, which is also my plan for the Ju-88 and He-111 kits that I have. I would say that the poor representations of the machineguns is my only complaint with the Revell kits.
