Carloss Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 (edited) Anyone know of a decent picture of the exhaust of a Phoenix missile? The best I can find is an angled shot of the red-brown nozzle, but not the centre. TIA Edited July 6, 2024 by Carloss correct a word
Finn Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Not the best images but: most likely there would be a cover at the end of the nozzle cone as they wouldn't want the rocket motor propellant exposed to the elements. It may be clear as the rocket motor for the AIR-2A had a clear cover so we could check to see if the propellant was still okay. Note the missile in the last photo at the left you see it looks shiny in the middle. Jari
Carloss Posted July 6, 2024 Author Posted July 6, 2024 Thanks Jari, yes, that I'm using that picture for the markings. I hadn't noticed the centre was visible in that last one - I think that awesome mullet was too distracting.
