  1. Ok, so I just finished my entry in the last GB and I'm back with this build. The first thing to do was to tidy up the workbench. Shaka, if you're reading this avert your eyes! Yup, a clean bench. So much space to clutter up, er, work in. Now onto my starting point: I'll be using the Montex masks for the larger markings and the Xtradecals for the smaller ones. I'm planning to build 307 in the 3 tone front, GSB rear combo. Carl
  2. Well it seems like i have not done a WIP for years , so heres one from me. This is my all time favourite kit. The 1/32 TBF-1C Avenger from Trumpeter. Its a great kit crammed with detail. I have built a few of these in the past so i am going with RNZAF Avenger "Plonky". The build will be mostly OOB. Heres my progress so far. I have assembled the interior. The forward section is my own mix of greens to get the bronze green colour , the rest of the interior is again my own mix of interior green. Everything fits great. I decided to go with the HGW belts. There is not a set for the Avenger so i went for the Hellcat set. This is good as there are 2 sets of belts , so 1 set can be used in the turret. Heres a view of the overall cockpit Those beautiful HGW belts. Well worth the effort assembling them. I decided to have a break from the interior , so i built the engine. Again its a beautiful little model on its own. Its not finished yet. More later!

  6. Finally got my 2nd RNZAF P-40 "quick build" finished, this one is the Hasegawa -N kit in 32nd scale, with Ventura decals for the 1944 sea blue grey scheme often associated with the home-based training squadrons. Quick Build is in quotes as i put little effort into filling seams and detail painting, the thing has been sitting half built on my shelf for 6 months so it's not really quick! Maybe "lazy build" is more appropriate There's conflicting information on whether or not the -N's served in this scheme or if this particular plane was a standard operational foliage green / grey scheme but hey, how often do you get to see a P-40 in a scheme that isn't green or brown? Paint is all tamiya, the topside color is a mix of XF-8 Flat Blue, XF-18 Medium Blue, and XF-2 Flat White Hope you like it! Mike

  9. Like many of you, I plan to snag Kittyhawk's T-6 pretty much as soon as it comes out. Can anyone with knowledge of the real plane tell me if I can make an RNZAF T-6, specifically as a Red Checkers display team bird, out of the box or if some backdating would be needed? Yup, this one below! I have Ventura's 1/48 decal sheet and will use this as a basis to make paint masks. Thanks, Mike
