  1. Hi guys, As I’m currently building a B5N2 Kate model, I wonder about the use of the 3 oxygen bottles located on the port side of the observer’s station. Are they related to the torpedo operation or something else? Were they present in which ever mission, torpedoeing or bombing? Which colour were the bottles? I searched the internet with no result and hope that you can help me in that matter. Thank you, Cheers, Quang
  2. … what are you waiting for? WE’RE READY!
  3. Okay...been a LONG time since I have posted anything related to the assembly of styrene. Several WIPs, but the interest fades....been putzing with the 1/24 109...removing some paint....but now that soccer is done for awhile, and winter has reared it's Snowy Maned Head, it's easier to escape to the basement. So I gave myself the dilemma, "Finish a WIP, then treat yourself to a new one, or vise versa?" Well, after himming and hawing, the latter won out. So I have chosen the above mentioned bird. Because I am me....will be OOB, but hey, it comes with some PE. Looking over the directions, I have my first issue right out of the gate....cockpit color. In the key for paint colors, there is "cockpit color (Mitsubishi)" and "cockpit color (Nakajima)". So wander out to the world wide web, over to Cyber-modeler, where I found their 'pit color reference. this reference chart shows only 3 brands that make this "cockpit color (Nakajima)", and 2 of them I have never heard of, much less seen. Now I'm not the type of person to go obtain a bottle/can of this for the 1 - 3 Nakajima planes that I may end up building. So right off, I need to tap into the wealth of knowledge here.....is there a more common color/Brand that would be a suitable substitute for this color? (I'm sure I'm late to the party as usual, but here's the site of the color chart. https://www.cybermodeler.com/color/cockpit.shtml) I thank you in advance for the assistance I will receive. Obligatory opening shot. Oh, and it doesn't help my having fun with this with Photobucket being painfully slow, and it forces me to move one photo at a time from my camera. Cheers Everyone! Dave
  4. I've started my Tamiya A6M2b in my usual snail-like pace... Let's hope that this will be a project that will see completion! I know there are some minor things that need adressing to get this model more accurate. Luckily, the don't concern the shape of the model, but more details because of the workable undercarriage and details thet aren't quite correct for the timeframe and so on. Because I know that a couple of Tweak Lists were published about the A6M5 and A6M2 but couldn't find them I started this thread: Not only will Ryan Toews redo his tweak lists when his family-situation will allow it, this thread contains lots more invaluable info! Check it out! The box art shows the A6M2b of Lt. Saburo Shindo from Akagi of the 2nd wave of the Pearl Harbor attack: I feel particularly drawn to this scheme, though, the Zero of NAP1/C Tsuguo Matsuyama from Hiryu: Sadly, my first results have to be redone, since the double vertical attachment of compressed air bottles on the left fuselage side wasn't found on the A6M2 but rather on the A6M5...! Can it be seen anyway, on the finished model? Looks like the seat rather blocks any view into the aft fuselage! I think copying the single-bottle brackets also found in the Big-Ed set won't be too hard, so a single horizontal set-up should be possible! I already removed the massive plastic brackets Tamiya supplies the bottles with. Now to find out how the equipment on this shelf looked. Tamiya supplies us with something looking like a Sony CD-player and Eduard follows suit. That doesn't mean anything since Eduard states that it supplies extra details but doesn't supply corrections! Cheers, Erik.
  5. Hi, Mates Starting this simultaneously with 1:32nd Hayabusa - will be good to see them both next to each other. A slightly different approach, as I'm going to use a resin cockpit from SBS (just amazing), photo-etched parts and some other upgrades - so that the level of detail will not be less than in 1:32nd - if not better. Feel free to comment. Best regards Hubert
  6. Hi guys, I could've sworn there was a Tweak List for Tamiya's 1/32 Zero somewhere, at least for the A6M5. I can't seem to find it anywhere, though. Someone an idea where I might look? Thanks! Erik B.
