  1. I know 1 company makes the main gear and I thought I read somwhere another company make the full set. Is that just my imagination or what? Thanks Gary V.
  2. I was wondering if anyone knows what color the undersides of an Iraqi MiG 21 would be? The intructions say "light gray". The picture on the box looks light blueish. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks Gary V.
  3. Great job! It is a nice kit. I made the mistake of painting the cockpit panzer gray. I have since discovered that is not even close! Hey Mike in Calif., do you have picture of the fuel line? I had never thought it might have been clear like the older car type fuel filters. I wonder how hard it would be to insert a piece of clear sprue? That would look really cool! Maybe a little clear yellow? blue? Keep up the good work! Gary V. Redondo Beach, CA
  4. I am working on the Trumpter MiG 21 MF. I was curious to know if anyone has used the "rubber" tires without any problems that I always hear about? I am a huge fan of separate tires and wheels becuae of the painting factor. I just need to know if anyone uses these tires without any reservations or problems? This applies to The Tamiya F-4 and Zero also! All comments welcome
  5. I have a bottle of SNJ buffing powder that does the same thing. I never got a chance to use it yet. The product you found looks interesting! I wonder if you can tint the colors?
  6. I read somewhere that they may be larger than 1/32. Does anyone know or measured this kit? I think the exterior is superior to the Hasegawa offering which I WAS going to build until I looked at it and lost the appeal for it. The next time I go to Japan I am going to shop the Doyusha offering of the zero to see if it's woth bringing back with me or if I should just look for it here. I already have the Swallow kit (same kit) but I might hang onto it a little longer. I saw one on ebay a few weeks ago and it was approching $100US!
  7. I saw on the Sprue Bros. website that Seamless Suckers may not be available for a while. Does anyone know why production has stopped or when they will be available again? Also would like advise, critiques or whatever, re 1/32 F-4 seamless intakes? Thanks Gary V.
  8. Actually, I think the -1a's did have an open step in the flap. I remember seeing an old photo with the step clearly showing. I will look for it. Meanwhile here is the Planes of Fame museum Corsair with the step visable on the starboard flap. Sorry, couldn't get the picture to work. Here's the link: http://www.air-and-space.com/20040516%20Ch...0flying%204.htm There are two photos in which the step is visable. and here: http://f4ucorsair.tripod.com/graphics/f4u_cno4.jpg and here: http://f4ucorsair.tripod.com/graphics/f4u_sns5.jpg and here: http://www.psnw.com/~dpkav8r/corsair/cors7.jpg
  9. Thanks guys! That clears that mystery up for me! I have always thought it was just weird looking and a mistake in design of the model
  10. Thanks guys! That helps a lot! I'm planing on giving my "old tool" tornado to my nephew as soon as I replace it with a new tool one
  11. I have seen these new tool kits in the box only. Does anyone know what the differences are between an IDS version and a GR.1 version? I would like to get one but was curious if it matters which one or if they're the same kit with differences in ordinance or something? Thanks Gary Vincent
  12. okay thanks! So the gun on the right side of the cowl should not be visible?
  13. Thanks, I know the guns are staggered. I maybe didn't phrase the question right. What I mean is the guns don't look like they protrude far enough out. The left one barely sticks out and the right gun does not come out at all, is what I meant.
  14. I am currently working on the R/M 109 G-4. I have a question about the machine guns in the nose cowling. Do the guns seem to be to far recessed in the cowl? When I test fit the barrels, the left one sticks out a little and the barrel on the right does not stick out at all. Is this the way it should be? I looked at the built model on the box (they only show the left side of the plane) and it the left gun looks looks like it sticks out further than it would if you built it per the instructions. Any help would be appreciated. Gary V.
  15. Hello, I am currently building the R/M/Hasegawa 109g-4. I have the cockpit asssembled. When I tried to slip it into the fuselage, I noticed two large gaps (one on each side) where the floor and fuselage are supposed to meet. Did I do something wrong? or haver you had similar experience with this model/ How do you guys fix it? Thanks Gary V.
  16. I didn't know you made the fighter nose! Or the canopy! Can I get a link to your website? Or can you just tell me how much these parts are? You can e-mail directly, if you like. Thanks, Gary Vincent
  17. IS the R/M Tornado IDS the same as the 80's Tornado (I believe it is the GR1)? Are there any major differences? I've heard the old one was all wrong. Even though it looks like a Tornado to me I would like to know if the newer one is better. Thanks Gary V.
  18. Very Nice Erwin! Is that the old Revell kit? I have the Swallow kit. I don't think it has the underwing cannon gondolas. Does the Revell kit come with those or did you make them? Great looking plane! Gary V
  19. Besides not liking the way they look or whatever, has anyone experienced any problems with using the rubber tires from Trumpeter, Tamiya, etc.? I have only had one bad experience and that was with the AMT/ERTL Tigercat. So I was wondering if any one else had problems with the recent releases with Trumpeter or Tamiya? I like the idea of separate wheels and tires, regardless of the material. And I know, no one likes the idea of having a Tigercat incident. (Although the bonus(?) was that AMT/ERTL replaced the entire kit!) Thanks for any input Gary V.
  20. Thanks guys! I'm applying the Thundervird decals to my f-4e. I was afraid (and right) that something could go bad around the nose. I will reapply the decal stuff again tonight... Thanks again, Gary V.
  21. I am currently dealing with some very brittle decals. I applied a coat of Microscale liquid Decal film over the decals and let them dry overnight. The decals still seem brittle. Should I apply another coat to the remaining decals? The directions on the bottle say the decal liquid should be dry and ready to use in 15 minutes. Is this possibly the problem? Should I have tried to apply the decals sooner, instead of letting them dry overnight? Info appreciated! Thanks, Gary V.
  22. I am almost done with the R/M F-4E. I saw on the Meteor Productions website that Cutting Edge has intakes for the F-4 and was wondering if anyone had uesd them on the Tamiya or Revell kit? Opinions on the Cutting Edge intakes? Thanks (Still struggling with which way to go with the intakes!) Gary V.
  23. Does anyone know where I can get the Phantom FOD covers? Or plans so I can make them? 1/32 scale, of course! Thanks, Gary V.
  24. There's a guy on e-bay (not me. I only buy models) that has a cessna 140 or something like that fairly cheap. It's a vacu-form kit. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...9&category=1189 Gary V.
