  1. Been awhile .. finally manage to borrow a camera, so here are some updated photos. Once the frame and wings (man where they a pain to get to stay on!!) where put together, and the primer was on - I sprayed wilt a mix of silver and aluminum before I added the gray and blue, my thought was that I could then weather it by scraping some of the top color off .. still not sure if that's the way to go or if I go back and use another method?!
  2. I can't wait to see you tackle this - I'm building the same kit (but only with the interior PE, see member build very far down somewhere) and I have got so far that it's time to attach the wings, but that's been a struggle - the connecting pieces isn't big enough to connect properly and the inside PE wall sort of cover half the connecting area so no matter how I tried the wings kept coming off as soon as I touched them .. had to resort to super glue in the end with a mixed result .. now I wish I had thought of that before and done some sort of a re-enforced wing holder thing. Can't update the build as "someone (someone!! = kids?? - but that hasn't been established yet)" dropped the camera, so next thing before I buy any other kit will probably have to be a camera of my own, as the family sharing is getting on my nerves! I bought the Vector's Wright R-1820-G (late) engine for my SBD-5 kit on Ebay, but when I had a closer look a couple of weeks after I got it I realized that there was pieces missing so now I have to try and combined kit parts with the vector engine which might even turn out to be a blessing as it could make the fit into the frame easier - so I'm keen to see how your engine comes together and how you fit it into the frame. No pressure at all but could hurry up and finish the Frank and get stuck into this one please ~Bozz
  3. Perry, PJ production have a RAF pilot seated .. http://www.pjproduction.net/index.php?productID=265 It's got 4 different arms and 2 heads one with the oxygen mask hanging on the side and one with the oxygen mask attached ~Bozz
  4. man do the guys on the last picture look small compared to the one above, maybe the revell pilots aren't that much off as I thought?!?
  5. Thanks for all the kind words guys!! Have a set of Radu's seatbelt that will finish up the cockpit once I'm back from Beijing - real shock to get of the plane this morning, from sunny Adelaide to 1 degree celsius at 6:30 this morning
  6. Engine didn't turn out half bad I think .... Well off to China this week, will see if I have time to checkout some toy stores and see if the Trumpeter Swordfish is possibly release over there yet, or what the prices for the kits are compared to Australia ...
  7. small update - been travelling a lot so not much time at the moment. Cockpit got some paint, and the engine has been put together ...
  8. Thanks Johan - I will add the hose and see how it looks
  9. I know it's dangerous to assume, but I will do it anyway and assume that this is the oxygen bottle - would the air hose come out of the nozzle I can't see that on any of the pictures I have manage to find?
  10. Ok so the Zero is finished and even if I'm dying to get into the other A6M5 it's probably good to do something else so I thought I have a crack at this. But I just discovered that the markings I got is for a F4F-4 and not a -3 so there might just be some artistic freedom when it comes to marking this one.
  11. Thanks guys!! Yeah I agree the Tamiya kit is great, specially for a beginner as myself - infact I'm so worked up about it and all the things I think I can do better that I most probably will enter the A6M5 kit that is on the shelf for the new GB later on .. I still have a few things like filling/putty/sanding etc. on the list of learning how. Yeah Kev it's the IKEA one - I have a smaller Tamiya one but it spinns like a hurricane as soon as I even think about turning the air brush on, that it makes my head hurt just looking at it Public holiday - so I cleaned up the table and got stuck into another one
  12. Hope you like it .. also the answer to the top question if anyone missed it - Black 21 of VC-42 USS Bogue (CVE-9) spring 1994!!!???? Did they really stay in service that long
