  1. Wow, PHENOMENAL build!!! It's a good thing I have another one waiting in the wings, because there are definitely some things I'd do differently on my Z after watching some of the "in progress" threads on the net. BTW, Hellfires are all black with either blue (inert) or yellow (live) bands. Some would argue that they're CARC Green, but after handling several hundred of them, I can tell you that they're definitely black. Pay no attention to the green dummy HFs used at airshows... Semper, Ski
  2. Looking great, Harold! Keep up the amazing work! Ski
  3. Well, crap, shoulda bough ONE set, then! I'll take pics and do a quick review on here for any interested parties. If I remember correctly, I used their gear on my big A-4M, and they are indeed a bit soft. Hopefully they're an improvement enough over the kit supplied gear, but I'll still keep my eyes peeled for the G Factor product. Thanks for the insight! Semper, Ski
  4. Wow, you did! Too cool, Harold!
  5. Freakin' gorgeous, Harold. Absolutely top shelf stuff. Ski
  6. Looking great so far! My Z is about 65% complete, but I'll definitely build another. And I'll most assuredly be following this thread to see how it SHOULD be done! Semper, Ski
  7. Absolutely fantastic work, Harold! Must have for the big Bronco...
  8. Holy cow, Harold, you are QUICK!!! Can't wait until Photobucket starts behaving again, I wanna see 'em! Ski
  9. Wow, small world! I miss my old club (TVMC), lots of talent and great guys all around. Bunch of liars, though, don't believe a word they said about me... First time I saw the pod, I thought it was a LAU-10, too, so don't feel bad! It wasn't until I saw the "back" that I realized what it was. Can't blame the museum for passing it off as a rocket pod, a flare pod isn't nearly as sexy! And thanks for the sentiments, tragic day Friday. I didn't know the copilot, but the aircraft commander was a friend of mine. She was a squadron mate when she flew CH-46s, we were on the USS Boxer in 2009 during the whole Capt Philips ordeal (she transitioned to Huey's after our float). Days like Friday, I don't miss flying.... Semper, Ski
  10. Great pics, Vandy, thanks! Quick clarification, though: what they claim to be a Zuni pod is actually a SUU-25 flare dispenser. It kicks out LUU-2 para flares vice rockets. You are correct, though, the pod is hanging backward! The contraptions on the front are for explosive cartridges (cads) that kick the flares out. Not trying to steal any thunder, just wanted to clarify... Cheers! Ski
  11. LOVE the bicentennial VMO-2 scheme!
  12. Yep, sure did. I think it resides at the National Museum of Naval Aviation in P-cola.
  13. Good Gouge, Vandy, thanks! Ski
  14. Couldn't the spurious Navy OV-10D markings be used on the A? (Navy never flew D's except for the VX squadrons. Black Ponies were decommissioned before the D came out, IIRC...) Ski
  15. And here's some others from the web: I've got some cockpit shots, too, if you're interested. Ski
  16. Hey Harold, Not sure, but maybe these can help you out. The first few I took at Camp Pendleton when they were "visiting": Cheers, Ski
  17. Gunner Mike, I gave Jay explicit direction to share the info, many months of research on that puppy! Every OV-10 pic I could find is on there, as well as Maine Huey's and Cobras from VN to present. I'll be doing a similar load out on my D, so you better believe I'll be getting the G Factor gear! I'd be afraid of the kit gear collapsing otherwise. I hear AM for the D won't be available until sometime between March and April. Knowing the glacial pace of my builds, I'm not overly concerned! Lots of great info being shared here, loving every new post! Cheers, Ski
  18. Hey Mike, The ejection history site lists Maj Wheeler's aircraft as 155423: http://www.ejection-history.org.uk/Aircraft_by_Type/OV_10_BRONCO.htm However, I was able to find some art online that depicts 155431. Reproduced here for reference purposes only: I would have thought that the markings would depict SOMEthing identifying it as a VMO-2 aircraft. As late as 1969, they sported "The Angry Two" crest on the fuselage, which was a yellow four pointed compass rose with a superimposed swooping eagle in red: Hope this helps out. Semper, Ski
  19. Thanks, Smitty! El Toro was my first duty station, ironically enough. I say that because I grew up in Anaheim, and El Toro wasn't exactly my idea of joining the Marines and seeing the world! I just retired after 22 years in the Corps, and El Toro will always hold a special place in my heart. Semper, Ski
  20. I've got a ton of reference pics of the A, let me know if you'd be interested!
