  1. I'me going to black the windows out and have a "in the hood drive by TIffy",SORTED!!! But seriously,I got my replacement dimple canopy with all the dimples in the right place ,just like the original !. The bag wasn't even sealed. And any way if its not common to all the kits why can't they get the good bits to us too ?and save yourself a bob or two on The AM malarkey .
  2. Yep,I've got the dimple, AND the front middle wind screen distortion. I reckon a careful touch with a Dremell, and then a bit of 400/800 grit paper(gentle mind),followed by some soft wire wool, and then a nice buff up with some quality tooth paste should be OK'ish. So at least I'll get my moneys worth out of the kit. Thanks Airfix !!
  3. Hi Bill, I've found that chrome silver works well.I know it sounds a bit dazzling, but by the time its transferred to the model, sealed with varnish, and the washes/filters are applied it dulls it down to a realistic tone. I haven't tried any other metalizer paints, but presume they would work in a similar way Hope this helps, Mick
  4. HI, Although I don't use MM acrylics,I do find that 99% Acetone moves stuff like Mr.Hobby/Tamiya/Vallejo without any probs. Try some nail varnish remover as a bit of a test run,it contains Acetone, but is diluted. After using Acetone I shoot some Screen wash/or Windex through my airbrush for a bit of a swill,so there's no residue of Acetone left. Mick
  5. Hi all, Here's a technique I use to get a nice bled between worn paint and the bare metal underneath using Mr.Metal Color(the buffable stuff) of the appropriate color. First of all,THICKLY apply(with a brush)some Mr Metal Color onto a non porous surface, this will be your palette. Let it dry,it only takes ten minuets or so. Then take a cotton bud(Q Tip) and rub it on to the Mr.Metal Color, picking up some of the residue color. With the cotton bud, Gently wipe the residue Mr.Metal Color onto the ALREADY PAINTED MATT SURFACE, using a gentle brush stroke/soft rubbing technique, leaving behind the color on the surface. You can build up the effect with more desired layers. I find it particularly useful on the tips of the Props, seat backs, and the foot wear areas in the cockpit. Have fun experimenting!! Mick.
  6. Hi Andy, I've just picked up the tank, safe and sound, from the Post Office, and again many thanks!. Like I said before I had a similar problem with my 1/48 Tamiya P47 of the 57th(Wicked Wabbit) The 75gal tank will finish off the authenticity of Norma/Little Bunny a treat!. Thanks again Mick. P.S Top Razor Back by the way, nice one!

  8. Hello everybody I'me just about to start building Hasegawa's 1/32 p47 (my first in this scale). It's going to be in 57th FG/65th FS Norma/Little Bunny,Alto Corsica. I've built three of Tamiya's 1/48 P47's from this group in the past and know they carry 75 gal tank on their belly, but the thing is, as you probably know,Hasegawa don't have them in this kit. I've done allot of searching for after market stuff and come up with zero.So I'me wondering if anyone knows of any company that make them as after market products ?.Or has anyone got any spares, (one), that I can buy (plus P&P) and I,ll throw in the kit tanks as well. I'me just venturing into the large scale realm and I'me thinking you folks might know some better leads than me.Any pointers or search tip's would be much appreciated. Thanks for your help Mick
