  1. Hi ya WoW what beautiful work !! I gotta get me one of those WNW models these days. I've been flying the WW I flight sim Rise Of Flight and it's beautiful. But not as beautiful as your model here. Allan
  2. Hi Shep. (and big Hello from Virginia USA) Thanx for responding ! I'm slowly grinding through a 1/48 TBD-1 but am researching for my upcomming AR 196 build. Reason I'm asking questions and following every Ar 196 build here. And your's is going to really be something when done ! I got the Eduard Big Ed set, Master Models Mg barrels, and the Quickboost exhaust.. After the cockpit the only thing that bothers me is the stupid canopy. I'll figure that one out later... Thanks again Allan
  3. Very nice, Very very nice ! I'm getting ready to start my Ar 196 soon, and your build is just that nice it's inspiring. I did notice and have been thinking long and hard about the Eduard instrument panel. The newer pre painted ones just don't have that realistic "glass face dial look" Which is why you went with the Krystal Kleer. I was thinking the same thing and you confirmed it. I kinda wish that Eduard would go back to the film instruments... Hey a real quicky if ya don't mind. Do you know what the actual colors used in the cockpit were ? (I don't like the Eduards RLM 66 look alike color) Every thing I've seen seems to say RLM 02, Also would the colors change say after a 1942 repaint ? (like over to RLM66) I might wind up trying the kit instrument panels with Kagero instrument decals, or try and repaint the Eduard ones. TIA :-) Thanx for sharing !! Allan
  4. Hi. Wow really nice. Got a question for you if you don't mind. How did you get rid of the tabs on the clear parts so well ? (you did a GREAT job !!) Never mind, I just went and read the thread thoroughly. Still I'm wondering, you just filled the notches where the tabs were supposed to go with superglue ? I assume you used gel CA ? How did you get it to stay/or be clear ? (mine almost always becomes a slight hazy look) You did that good of a job, hence my asking. I was thinking about cutting the tabs off or using pva glue or future to *glue* them in and sand. The Ar 196 is my next build and this is the one part that's got me stumped. Thanks Allan
  5. Hi all and Hi shepard. First off I'm new here this is my first post, so hello, my name is Allan from VA USA. Both parents were in the airlines so I've been around airplanes all my life, and I'm 51 now. I'm a house painter and I've been building models on and off since the 60's, tho am still learning. (seeing some work here, I'm realize I'm still a beginner) Shepard good start ! I'll be watching closely as the 1/32 Ar 196 is my next build after I finish a 1/48 GW TBD-1 So thanx for sharing and I can't wait to see more ! Allan Hi Thanx. Should start working on my Ar 196 within the next two weeks. I have always been a 1/48 modeller but have somehow acquired seven 1/32 aircraft, and since I'm slowly getting the room to actually do something with them, (with SWMBO's grace that is !) I'm just going to start one, figure out where to display it later. After the 196, it will be the 1/32 F 15C. Allan
