  1. It takes guts to cut lumps off, nice work This is really inspiring me to knuckle down with my F4-J. Have-you/will-you go to the effort of sanding off all those 'scab' panels that Tamiya put all over the thing? I think they are supposed to be battle-damage repair but apparently thay are a bit too much to be realistic. Regards, Paul
  2. Thanks Steve, That's good advice, the mistake I made that put me off rattle cans in the first place was that I ended up applying too much paint. Not much point detailing wheel wells if you are just going to drown it all! Paul
  3. Chris and Steve, Thanks for the advice, looks like I better buy some then, I wasn't looking foward to airbrushing Tamiya white into the wheel wells of my F4-J! Regards, Paul
  4. Hi Steve, I'm really enjoying this build so far. Can I ask, what brand of paint are you using for the white? It looks like you got extremely good coverage which is something I always struggle with when using white. Thanks Paul
  5. Hi! That looks really great, I am currently detailing the cockpit of Tamiya F4-J so these pictures are very useful I will also have to try that technique you mentioned with the air intakes, do you have any pictures? Regards, Paul
  6. Just to add a bit to that... Make sure you don't get confused between the GR1 and the GR1A. The GR1 was the iron hauling jet, the 1A is the recce jet. Both have the laser-range-finder fairing under the forward fuselage. Agree with all of the options outlined by plasticmad. You could also add Alarms missiles on 7, 8 and 11; or a TIALD on 5. GR1As often flew with 4 fuel tanks, 2 hindengurgers on the wings and two of the smaller tanks under the fuselage (presumably on 7 and 8?). Paul
  7. Hi, I pm'ed Saso Knez via ARC a while ago but got no reply, hopefully all is well. His website mentioned that he had run out of good references and so he could not proceed for the time being. I reckon this is one of the top WIP threads around so hopefully he will be back soon Paul
