  1. Brian, i didn't do anything to the sit of the model, i was planning on extending the oleo strut to have it with a nose up stance, but decided not to in order to have a realistic tryout on how the original gear struts will hold under the extra balance weight i put into several open places in the kit.... I also have the horizon kit to build a early Lightning, so i was planning on this other one to have the nose high attitude. So actually Trump got this one right on the lightning i guess. J.
  2. Mike, was trying to combine a couple of proven techniques and a couple of "just-wing-it" ones, but most of them will be of the maskol type. I saw some really beat up (read: worn) pictures of the "M" version, and a factory fresh one wasn't exactly my turf. Mind you, this came to mind remembering my inadequacies in finishing a good paint job, so, like with the Kingfisher, i hope i can produce a "more or less" realistic finish of a operational ship. Besides, i want to experiment with different shades of black, so by adding other colours, i hope to achieve my goal.. J.
  3. side view...mind you the radar pod isn't quite finished, it needs some more attachment points and connections to the main fuselage. Also i used the Revell props, since they look much better than the original trump version.
  4. thanks guys, now it gets to the "dreaded" paintjob, first a aluminum underlayer and then the black..... Will try going for a kind of patchwork black, mixing various shades of black, see how it turns out. J.
  5. this is the "black" lightning so far........ J.
  6. thanks Stephen, I appreciate any tips on "picture making", i'm a REAL amateur on the photo subject. I do own a digital SLR camera, but that is as far as it got, i think i'm just not photo-minded enough to make full use of this "gadget", so i'd better do some learning and maybe i found what i was looking for.............. :P (pay attention to "dummies")
  7. well....didn't succeed that well....anyhow, more better pics to follow.... J.
  8. thanks, i guess i'll take this advise.....anyone want to swap a "D" for an "E"?? Jack.
  9. Wow, indeed a whole list, thanks Dave. Does anyone know if all these differences are present in the Trump "D" version? J.
  10. ok then, need to do some filing on that........ thnx J.
  11. I have two Trump A7-E Corsair models, and one of them i would like to turn into a D model, without having to buy the "actual" D model.... Is it possible and what would i have to delete/add/change/adjust to change an E into a D...? (and don't you tell me to go backwards in the alphabet...dah ) (and yes, i know about the other shortcomings like canopy shape and airintake shape.....) TIA Jack.
  12. yeah, so i can finally trash my attempt in making this machine, converting an old revell 51B isn't really the way to go now since these things might make it easier... Anyhow, would be nice to have a line up of all the P51 models up to and including a F82 (in big scale ofcourse...) Thinking about it, who would be the first to try and produce a "H" model.... J.
  13. ah...thnx, well if it ain't in Canada yet, it shouldn't be available anywhere, eh? J.
  14. Anyone seen these already somewhere? J.
  15. Have them, PM me with your home address and they are on their way! J.
  16. oh boy, oh boy, you never stop learning do ye thanks for sharing this piece of "history" ..... J.
  17. Talking about "your weird projects".........The so called EA-191 project of the P51B....if nothing else "good" can come out of the Trump P51B kit, then this one would be an option... J.
  18. I think you're on the right track, either it being "ugly" or weird, extravagant, you name it. There must be enough subjects that can be done in 1/32, so let's have a ball.. Jack.
  19. Ok, we have a race........... Should take some time though, considering the few subjects available in 32nd scale, but maybe some of the LSP'ers are very inventive.... So, let's have a look in oh....six months? What you say? J.
  20. You mean any emaginative contraption could participate or as i saw it only the excisting models, meaning the ones that actually flew in reality? J.
  21. I'd like to try and build the P2V-7B version, with the solid gun nose, i wouldn't "dare" and try the glass nose version, might screw it up, so in order to be safe i'll stick to the 7B.....if all else fails it's probably good enough to be in the UGLY-GB...  have fun "digging" out the plans.. J. BTW, this strikes me as being a very beautifull aircraft.....but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder....!!
  22. Actually i was planning on building one of the "non" trump kits as a tanker, so i could try and convert the other into a 3W version, but as a matter of fact i'm already busy trying to plan/carve a similar radar gizmo for a future 32nd scale Lockheed Neptune, so bear with me on that..... J.
  23. come to think of it, i might also try this on one of my "non" trump avengers, being a vac issue and the Scratchbuilders one. Good thinking Stephen... J.
  24. Ah, ...you mean something like this?
