  1. Well IMHO I think they will do a F-51D, then the P-51B, then follow with F4U's and P-47's. The P-51B/D, F4U and P-47's have to be the best selling 1/48th kits for them. When I go the LHS's and they get these 1/48th kits they sell quick, reorder, sold again.
  2. Do you think we will see Tamiya release a P-51B or C kit in 1/32nd or do you think the D model is it like the 1/32 F-16CJ and no other variant or 2 seater to follow in over 8 years.
  3. What parts are the dive plaps? I viewed the Hasegawa 1/32 P-47M instructions online and did not notice any dive flap parts in the instructions?
  4. Thanks so much for the feedback guys. What would be the best way to leave off the photo etch hinges on all the control surfaces?
  5. I really want to do a Hasegawa 1/32 P-47M in the scheme of "Brat", Areoscale made this sheet in 1/48 sheet 48-783 but I don't know if they made it in 1/32.
  6. Hello everyone, I just purchased this kit, I have built aircraft for over 25 years but this is my first 1/32 prop kit. I am not an expert on the Spitfire but I love it. I have a couple questions and would appreciate any feedback you guys can offer up. - I want to build this kit with the engine all covered up. Do I still have to build the whole complete engine and use all the magnets in all the engine peices? - I have seen some builds where the modeller painted the landing gear wheel well bays the same color as the cockpit but the instructions indicate to paint them the same color as the bottom of the wings/fuselage. Which is correct? - And my understanding is the flaps are up when the aircraft is in the parked position, correct? - Any big issues I have to watch out for or be aware of? Thanks so much, I am very excited and starting this kit as we speak!
  7. Thanks so much Tim C. That is some great information I was not aware of.
  8. What's up with the shortage of these kits. I have been searching on every hobby store site includig Sprue Brothers, Ebay and having a hard time finding these kits. I live in Canada, so finding Hasegawa kits in a LHS is mission impossible. I can find the odd P-47D but I can not find a P-47M kit and I want that one bad. If anyone knows where I can find a P-47M kit for sale (or 2) please let me know. Thanks so much.
  9. Is this kit really that bad? I have read that there are issues with the hud, intake, exhaust. To take care of these issues who makes the best resin cockpit for this kit as well as who offers resin exhaust set? Does anyone make 1/32 F-16 resin wheels?
  10. Are the C and D kits still available? I see they are still listed on the Academy website but I have not seen them in a store for a long time. Academy did such a nice job on these kits do you think they will ever release the E and F models? I know Trumpy did the E/F model but heard there are lots of inaccuracies and other issues.
  11. How does the Trumpeter P-47D compare to the Hasegawa kit? I have only read in box reviews but the first thing that stands out to me that I like is that Trumpeter does a one peice cowling, why Hasegawa did not do that is beyond me. And the other things that are nice is Trumpeter has out a Razorback and a D and a N, wish they would do an M. Another thing that is nice is Trumpeters cockpits for sure the instrument panel and the way they do them and also include PE seat harness. Anyone that has built the Trumpeter kits how did you find the builds (fit, accuracy etc)?

Thanks so much. I am going to give the Tamiya color mix a try and see how it looks.
  13. What is the best way to paint radial engines in F4U and P-47, FW190? Airbrush flat black on the engine and then drybrush with silver or airbrush silver and then apply a black or dark wash to the engine. First time doing this just looking for feedback on techniques people have tried and what gave the best results.

Not too sure about the olive drab. Moeggo do you remember what mix of Tamiya paints you used?
  15. If your asking what Hasegawa FW kit is the best they are all pretty much the same unless you find a really old tooled kit around. The A-5/6/8, F-8 and new tool D-9 kits are all great out of the box. The only issue is Hasegawa included late style dora wheels in their kits but there is nice aftermarket treaded wheels out there. I think these kits are really nice and pretty easy and straight forward to build.

    Eduard

Created an order on Eduard's website to confirm shipping charges to Canada. If I order over $150 it is FREE shipping. That is not bad as I need about $180 worth of PE and Masks. Not sure what other charges could be tacked on a the border/customs but sounds pretty good.
  17. Looking for tips on how to paint instrument panels. I am currently working on 1/32 P-40E, Ki-61, Ki-44, P-47D and the decals for the instrument panel are not that great. I have all the instrument panels painted flat black but I don't know whether to dry brush with silver, try to pick out each little guage with white paint or what process is used for the dials. I picked up a white Prisma Pencil as I heard they worked good and they work like crap unless I am using it wrong. I would really appreciate any tips or advice or online articles I could refer to.

    Eduard

So when you get to the check out they do indicate the shipping charges? Wonder if there is any other charges at the border/customs on top of that?

    Eduard

Anyone ever order direct from Eduard? Just wondering how long the order takes and if it is worth it. I live in Canada and none of my LHS carry or will order in Eduard PE and masks. And Squadron and other places on line in the U.S. are always out of stock of what I need.

Looking at a Japanese website for interior colors for the IJA (Ki-44/84) the color chip looks pretty close to Tamiya XF-76 Gray/Green. I can't get my hands on Mr Color paint for the H127 so I am trying to figure out what I can use in the Tamiya or Model Master series of paints.
  21. I just picked up this kit and have a few questions: 1. Kit has 4 props in it but the instructions don't indicate what prop is what kind. I am not an expert. How many different props did the P-47 use and how can I tell them apart? What prop did the P-47M use? 2. I have heard that the Turtle megnetoes (or whatever they are called) that are in the instructions for the crank case are wrong for the P-47M, what do I do since that is all that is provided in the kit? 3. How do you wire this kits engine as with the new different crank case there is no harness with the hole pegs to wire up the engine? 4. The Tamiya 1/48 P-47M comes with the different paint schemes and the one I want to do is the camo dark blue and light blue but the Hasegawa kit does not offer that paint scheme. Is there any company that makes 1/32 P-47M decals for this kit in that scheme? Do you think Hasegawa will release another P-47M kit some day with other decal options? 5. Does anyone see Hasegawa every releasing a 1/321 P-47N?
  22. Okay I have another question on the Hasegawa 1/32 Fw kits. In the instructions there are parts I guess usually F8 and F9 they look like little honey combe things that go in the wheel wells that the wing gun barrels go into. Now when I look at the Walkaround FW books or any other FW kit like 1/48 Tamiya, Hasegawa and Eduard I don't see these honey combe things in any other kit. Are these protective coverings for the gun barrel housings? How accurate are these when they are not even in detail books of this plane?
  23. I was not aware there were different molds. The one I was looking at is the new kit that was just released by Hasegawa. How can I tell the difference between old tool/new tool? Can I tell by the kit number or the date on the box?
  24. Besides the exhaust are not hollowed out how accurate and good build is this kit?
  25. What color did you use on the cockpit interior?
