Collin
EKA-3B Hasegawa 1/72. OOB build. Started last week, finished painting the white tonight. This is the bird I am doing with aftermarket decals: http://upload.wikime...ight_c1971.jpeg In-progress shots: Nose weights I cut off the fronts of the engine pods to deal with the seam, then glued them back together: Simple cockpit with kit decal instrument panels just cut off the backing and glued in place. Figured you won't be seeing much of this after the canopy is on. Canopy masked with Tamiya tape described in the Tools & Tips section: Preshaded and tape masking for the vertical stab markings (no decals for this): White painted. Highly thinned Krylon White (which comes in small bottles from my local Capitol Hill hardware store) thinned with Tamiya laq thinner... sprays beautifully. Spray the center of panels then go over the entire area until the preshade barely shows through: Cheers Collin Edited November 21, 2012 by Collin
Collin
Two hours of masking this morning. I had too much coffee...my hands were shaking. I didn't realize the extent of masking off the white (and after that I will have to mask off for the NMF engine area, the red intakes, and the white covers on teh ECM antennas). Fun. Guest Peterpools
Collin Wicked progress on the Skywarrior. I'm with you, two hours of masking and I would be shaking the rest of the day. Peter

Collin
Tried using white-tac to provide a soft demarcation between the grey and white of my Whale... it didn't stick. So I dragged out my H&S airbrush with the fine tip and freehanded it. I spray the center of each panel as you see here...then I back off with the airbrush and blend it all together to what looks like a uniform color with just a hint of the preshading showing. Collin
Decals Round One Complete. Aftermarket SuperScale sheet. It's sitting in the basement now letting the setting solution do it's thing. Always the hardest part for me to keep my hands away from the model (I dont' think I am along in that regard). Tomorrow will be the limited stenciling that will come off of the kit decal sheet. Cheers Collin
