RacerDave
Our local club here in Chattanooga, TN is doing an Airfix group build and contest for our Show next month and the challenge was set to complete an Airfix 1/72nd to IPMS OOB rules for the show. Here is what I did with mine: The PRXIX has always been my favorite of the Spitfires, its the big Griffon engine with all those propeller blades! Its a good thing the kit comes with a pilot otherwise I wouldnt have been able to do this. I've had this display stand idea rolling around in my head for years now, its nice to finally see it for real. I wont bore you with details because there arent any. OOB really cuts down on the nonsense that we've all become accustomed to. I assembled the basic airframe in about a day and a half of off and on work and painting took the rest of a week's time spread out over the last month and a half. The paint scheme is entirely made up by using whatever I could convice the tape to do and the decals in my spare box. Most of the decals came from the recent issue of the Airfix Super Connie. Yup, that registration number belongs to a Connie! I'm not entirely happy with my paint and decal job but I really like the model overall. This one will surely be proudly displayed on my shelf for many years. Now enough of my chatter, on with the pictures. Thanks for reading, let me know what you think!
