joshua knuth
Hello I am curently working on an extremely Detailed 3D model of a CAC Boomerang for an up comming Combat flight simulator. I am makeing Ca 12 and a Ca 13 models of this plane. the cockpit needs to be extremely detailed so I need technical drawing of this plane as well as detailed cockpit placards. I am doing this as a Volunteer 3rd party modeler. It is sort of a resume piece for me. I have a deadline of 4 months. this is a huge task and i know how good you guys are at getting research. ive contacted the museum at point cook in australia that has a boomerang in great condition. I know this isnt a Large scale model but i think its relavent to us all. if i do a good job. we can all fly this plane "in virtual reality of course" plus its a great chance for Australia and New Zealand to be represented in a major flight sim. The aussies did thier part in the war effort, and heres a chance to give those pilots some well deserved recognition. Thanks a ton and sorry this is a little off topic! Coolie
I have some photos out of the FM models Boomer that I can copy for you mate...also I will check in my flightpath mags as I remember a few articles on the two flying ones, including some cockpit shots...You might also try talking to some of the guys in temora on a flying day as quite often they are there. Probably the other place i would look is in the Wirraway, Boomerang and CA-15 in Australian Service book...I have the one on the sea fury etc and it had some good shots... joshua knuth
I have the flight manual from the commonwealth AC company it has a few shots but their not the best. I Would love to go to temora but i unfortunetly live in the USA well not unfortunetly i spose I am happy here! LOL! I Just have had a love of australia for many years and since my fiance just got back from visiting friends there last year I am addicted!! the country is amazing to me from its history to its wildlife! I just took on the project because i belive that the country gets overlooked all the time, Especially its aviation history. the commonwealth company made some beautiful planes that should be represented. everyone wants the P-51 or the Bf109 but there were others too. there is more to australia than the crocodile hunter!! and this is a chance for people to realize this. Coolie
Oh, I thought you were here in oz...oh well, we cant all be perfect heehee... Hey I love it here, although I do see our culture being changed here in Sydney and I dont like it, too rushed, too disrespectful to each other...When it gets to much I just head west to visit my folks out on the plains...(and yes I do have a scar on my forehead from an accident with a kangaroo) On the Boomer, if you can get it have a look at Flightpath magazine, its our Aussie warbirds mag (http://www.yaffa.com.au/mags/fphmag.htm) or Classic Wings Downunder, its NZ and Oz (http://www.classicwings.com/)...I found a good instrument panel shot in one last night, there are a few shots of the Boomer in the model kit that I can scan and send to you, probably not all that much better than what you have though. I was planning on heading to Temora this month but a new Niece means I have to head in a different direction instead...if I can get there shortly, and if the right people are attending, I should be able to get into the cockpit of one and go nuts with the happy snaps http://www.aarg.com.au/Booksales.htm...for all good aussie plane information...I have the sea fury one and the spit etc and boomer etc on order... Coolie
Love the Il-2 series, just got aces...havent made it online to fly yet...thinking about doing that now. It was refreshing to get to fly some of the lesser known aircraft especially the polikarpov I-16, guys going up against 109s in those...thats brave. If I get to see a Boomer in time Ill do my best to go nuts with the camera for you, want an accurate one out there in the Sim world...would also like the Ca-15 but that prolly wont happen
joshua knuth
ya i was told the ca 15 probably wouldnt happen I would love to build one in 1/24 scale. in my opinion that plane looks even slicker than the mustang. I am sending you an e-mail about flying online.
