  1. Today we take a look at the latest from Fantasy Printshop - in this case a set of decals for the new Spitfire Mk.Vb kits in 1:35 from Border Models. An excellent variety of markings for anyone looking to build the Spit Vb in this slowly expanding aviation scale. Blue skies, Iain
  2. These may end up being very dumb questions, unfortunately that is my stock in trade, so here goes. I'm looking at doing a Spitfire Mk Vb of 277 Squadron with Invasion stripes.(BA-U BL591). The ID Yellow Codes just look fabulous. However, in quite a few illustrations the plane is depicted with 6 exhaust pipes per side, as opposed to the usual 3 per side. Is this accurate or simply a representation of a restored Spit in 277 Sqdn Colours, with a different Merlin? Furthermore, the rescue equipment as I understand it was carried in two underside flare chutes. Does anyone have any picture of what the mechanisms would have looked like? One last question, is there a contemporary photo of the Invasion Stripes? Were they as pristine as they appear in decal sheets and illustrations, or like a lot of Spits, were the stripes painted by cross-eyed Erks after an all night binge and a Malaria attack? Thanks for any answers!
