Having a couple of 1/24 Spitfire Vbs languishing in my stash for over 10 years and being inspired by a few other builds across a number of different forums, I embarked on this project as a "stop-gap" between other builds. For some reason I didn't think it would take me too long as I expected to build it out of the box - but then I saw the rather excellent after market parts by https://www.buchonscalemodels.com/ and started to acquire a few of them. This is the particular kit I have (complete with glue, paints and brushes): I actually started the build in September last year with a desire to complete it as a Mk1a 64Sqn machine based at RAF Kenley. Luckily for me there is this rather interesting British Pathe film which shows the Squadron in action. Also from which I've taken a few stills of the subject aircraft... ... and a lovely take-off which I've attempted to colourise: Here are some of the excellent Buchon Scale Models parts. I'm also using Airscale bits and bobs and a Yahu instrument panel. If constructed carefully the working seat mechanism allows you to move the seat up and down! Construction started by cutting the fuselage down. The replacement forward fuselage and canopy corrects the shape issue with the Airfix kit. I set the seat in a low position. From this you can see how overscaled the Airfix seat (right) is. I found that the wingspar from the Mk9 kit fits perfectly... ...so I used it as a template to trace around and make a spar from plasticard. To which I added some extra strengthening lengths once glued in. The Yahu instrument panel was upgraded with some Airscale decals ones. I then added some of the cabling and scratch built the selectors at the lower left of the instrument panel. From my references I think there should be two fuel gauges rather than the one (bottom right). To set the forward rake of the undercarriage correctly I raised the front mounting point with a piece of plastic rod. Also to help keep it in position I added some bracing. It was never my intention to do a WIP thread on this build (you never know how things may turn out), but at the time of writing it is actually near completion and seems to be going ok so I figured it would be safe to do and may be of interest to others looking to build the same kit. As such, updates should come quite quickly once I've sorted and am ready to upload the pictures. Thanks for looking.

This will be my first entry in a group build, ever. I don't have the skills or experience to approach some of the work here, but I will refine the cockpit and add the non-existent wheel wells at the very least. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this release of the kit came with cuffless Hamilton Standard props. So, I'll do my best to turn an Airfix 1/24 Mustang IVa, Waldron seat belts, foil placards, oxygen hose and instrument dials into this: or this:

Hello all... this is my first model share on this site so please go easy. Unfortunately I don't have the photography (or build) skills as others on here, but I've thoroughly enjoyed building it and am pleased with how it has turned out. The kit is the old Airfix 1/24 scale Bf109 onto which I have used some after market parts, namely: - Barracuda Resin Wheels - Yahu Instrument Panel - Scale Aircraft Conversions Metal Undercarriage Legs - RB Productions Seat Harness - Custom Decals (to my own design) Modification wise, I did a lot with the wheel wells (totally absent in the original kit), I also cut out the flaps so that I could pose them down and I cut out and replaced the moulded in exhausts. Hi all, Started the 24 th Airfix Hurricane three weeks ago with the main build. Note that I didn't add the guns and engine.For me it's all about "the overall look".
