  1. Don`t know why these pics are too small. Will try to post new ones sorry without swastikas.
  2. Time for decals. The right elevator is a little bit hanging because I forgot to cement it in. The eagle sits on it legs.. The last pics of the completed bird.
  3. With flaps rudder and elevator. It's a bully still. Ready for decals now.
  4. some more pics showing the sleeker contours of the reworked fuselage..
  5. Hi dutik, Lübeck is a must go! Will be nice to meet you there.
  6. Well I decided against this fat fuselage which looks more like a Fiat G50 and split it apart again. This is the comparison between old and new. old: new: Hope there is a substantial difference between them.
  7. For a better inpression I sprayed some primer on the fuselage. The engine cowl is provisonal mounted. There is a feeling in my stomach that the fuselsge is a little bit too fat.
  8. A quick glance on what I have now. Some strenuous hours later: That is what the Putty-Queen looks like at the moment. a little stubby isn't it?
  9. reminds me of a Ki 44 Shoki. It's a pity that you always have to do the cockpit before cementing the fuselage together. You will soil it on a regular base during the next steps.
  10. A little cementing later I arranged the parts for a first look of the beast. I was happy with the result and decided giving it a chance.
  11. The One O Nine wth the BMW 801D is another mystery ship from Messerschmitt. Sure it was built and flew with discouraging performance. But no pictures are available. There are some pics of a radial engined 109. Burt I think they show the Bf 109 V21 with a Ptatt Whitney engine. A few plans exist: Google-Ergebnis für http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee446/lleullaugiffin/Germany/109/x-4.jpg What kit to use that's the question. As always I have some favorites: The Matchbox 109 E, The old Hasegawa FW 180 A an a quarterscale P 47 from Monogram. This is the general arangement of kit parts: First to come in was the saw!
  12. At last I found some time to finish the kit. A 109 on wide spread legs. Pilots who flew versions of the "H" were pleased by its flight characteristics but experienced wing flutter at high speeds. The 109 H says Good Bye.
  13. I can almost see the checkered flag. Prop, position lights, pitot tube and ventral tank are at their places. I added the ventral tank mostly for optical reasons because I wanted to close the large gap between the under carriage legs. On the other hand the 109 H1 did some reconnaissance flights over GB. Nothing a 109 could do without extra fuel. so the system had to be tested on V- aircrafts. Have to do yet the position light at the tail the middle part of the canopy and the antenna.
  14. The V-54 has to learn standing on her own feet now. The kit wheels looked a bit narrow. I inserted a spacer. Detail on the wheels is allright. The wide track solved the notorious pröblems of the 109 landing gear. Unsolved was the ever present buffeting of the weak wings. Summersault?
  15. I made little progress last week because of the modelfair in Münich. Maybe you are interested in some pics of the surroundings where we showed our kits. The 109 got a replacement canopy from the sparebox with better fit. By the way I sprayed some exhaust stains and added the wing guns. May be a litte too much but german engines generally produced heavy stains because of high ingrediences of benzol in the gas.
  16. It's cold outside. Time to mount a canopy on the O-nine. The dash board is replaced by a new one at last as are the exhausts. I buyed some Quick-Boost exhausts but I mounted the kit ones sparing the resin items for a more expansive Hasegawa kit. The front canopy will not be the last word. Found a better one in my spare parts. I will exchange it when I'm back from "Oberschleißheim Air Museum" Model -Fair near Munich in some days. The new dashboard is showing up a little.
  17. After a coat with clear acrylics the decals went on without problems. The kit decals of the 21st kit are surprisingly numerous and good. the decals are sturdy and handle far better than Tamiyas fragile ones. No silvering at all. Will have to downtone the bright crosses and letters on the fuselage. The instrument panel will be changed at a later stage of finishing. the belly before weathering while the crosses got their share of downtoning yet.
  18. For camoulage I decided to use light colors because of the high altitude job the 109 H would have to do. The pattern follows a drawing I found in "Airclassic". I am not too happy with acrylics. Very often the sprayguns get stoppages or spit. Problems I never had with my old Pactra enemals. Maybe acrylics tend to dry too fast. I am glad I didn't throw awy my enamals with the advent of acrylics. As I know till now the V-54 never carried any guns. She looks a bit naked without them. So I added cowl MG's a "Motorkanone" and MG 151 gondalas for a nicer outfit of the lady.
  19. Next step was the empannage. The outline of the vertical tail rudder is questionable. I tried to follow some drawings which all differt slightly. From the right side. Starts looking like a "Messerschmitt".
  20. A coat of primer always looks good but reveals faults too. The flaps of the wing radiators are scratch built from thin plastic sheet because they are rectangular and the kit flaps are trapzoid and could not be used. Next the rudder was cut off and the fin was lengthed a little. A second glance. The flaps from down under.
  21. The dehedral of the outer wing planes was a little too positive. I saw a slit in the upper wing halfs and inserted a splint from Evergreen. The empenage is fitted only to get an impression of the ac. It will have to be changed too. The rest of the fuselage is standard G-5. The underside of this build is for putty and sandiing freaks only. The front of the beast.
  22. Now it is time for glueing. The tail isn't ready yet. The dehedral of the outer wing panels is a little too pronounced. Will chnge it in the coming days. Last pic for now.
  23. Thanks Frank for your hint, a little expensive I think. For the money i can get a Revell 109-G plus some accessories. It's so much more fun carving it out of bits and pieces isn't it?
  24. Hi geedubelyer, This was only a check for fit. No part is glued yet.
