I recently purchased plans for a 1/5 scale r/c Helldiver after a hiatus from modeling of any kind. My grandfather is among the last living combat Helldiver pilots, having served with VMSB-331 in the Marshall Islands in 1945. I saw these plans and made a knee jerk reaction and bought them. Unfortunately there are no scale landing gear made by any of the maybe half dozen companies in the world for this. Luckily my dad is a mechanical engineer, and we can model them, but we can’t find much in the way of specifics concerning the way they functioned. If you know Helldivers, you will know that they have an especially unique set of main landing gear. That said, I would be eternally grateful to any one with knowledge of the subject willing to shed some light for us!
