Craig, i use what i have left from the gone SNJ aluminum color powder in all the aircraft, regardless of the alclad tone i used, when you aplly the powder for your eye all the panels will turn the same color but for the camera will mantain the different shades of the panels, this technic plays a lot with the ambient light, -

it is a cool effect on the fuselage but on the center part of the wing is horrible, as it is unreal on that part of the wing, and i think is not done on the mold, but is done by poor pressure in the injection process, cause wolfpack's wing are the same mold and they look right as it should be -

thanks guys, Craig is just an effect of alclad, i jus used alclad paint Petro, i use Flory model washes, they are water and clay based, it is hard for it to stick over the shiny surface of alclad, but with patience you can make it stick well You are right Zero, when you see something you dont like on the finish of your model, then the hole model look like crap to your eyes, i am the first and worst critic of my modeling skills Thanks Peter, your words are to much for my work -

thanks for your kind words on my work, i like my work but also i am the first critic on my work too, what i dont like on the right wing is in this picture, on the picture it looks like a dirty wing but when you look at it in the real world it loks ugly, i will try to fix it today Zak i used MAKETAR's stencils for the insignias, they are a pain in the ........ but if you have patience you can get a nice insignia on your model -

you are right Peter, but what is killing me is the right wing, need to rest from the HUFF a few days to figure it out how to fix it -

well here is a little update, done with insignia paint, they look ok, tested some decals over the alclad, they look nice, by the naked eye you cant see the carrier film, here are some close up pictures, i know that closeup pictures are killers on models cause they multiply the mistakes and flaws on the model, i know this is not a perfect model but looks ok, i dont know how but i mess it up the right wing and i am trying to figure it out how to fix it, but this model will not see any event or expo so probably will stay like that here is a general look of the airplane insignias came out ok, first time painting insignias in my life and last one for sure carrier film on decals is barely visible on a close up here are two pics on this top picture you can see the horrible right wing, -

well this is not bad for my first time painting a insignia on an airplane, is not perfect but neither the real ones, i painted it because i wanted a faded color insignia to go with a worn sabre, i hope the fuselage ones will be much better -

well guys, i got tired of the alclad airbrushing, still have to paint the underside of the wings and some panels on the vertical stab, so i took the chance to test some paneling and weathering on few panel on the left side of the fuselage as well as the yellow bands on the wings, still have to clean more the weathering on the fuselage, but so far it looks like a well worn korea era Sabre, any critics or suggestions are welcome as always, hope you like the pictures -

Hi Chuck, nice to see you around, as always i used model master gloss black in a ration of 1:4 (1 paint 4 thinner), now i know what you went through with A-10, i dont recomend this kit , you need a ton of putty to make it look good or something like that -

Out2gtcha, the important thing is that everyone feels good with their own technique, yes the foil way is amazing in the results too, by the way, your foiled B25 is spectacular as well as your Bronco -

Kev, you are right, even photobucket reduces the size and the combination of both gives you this picture quality, Rainer, thanks, i really preffer paint over foil, the foil look good, but you have more option with color and weathering over paint than foil, that is why i use alclad, it gives you a real look of metal on the plastic -

Tony, thanks for the tip on the color of the cockpit, well it looks like mine will be a warbird then, it is late to change the color, the frame of the canopy and the windscreen are black inside, the rest is will remain as you saw on the early picture. Peter, i take my pictures in RAW format so i can post process better than in JPEG format, my pictures are crisp in focus, but i think the forum degrades the picture for space and that is why they look like that, i uploaded the picture in 2600 pixels size and the forum lowered to around 900 pixels, when you click on the picture it will open a pop up window of it, and if you click on the save button it will take you to my photobucket page and there you will see it with good focus Jorge -

ok, top of the wings are done, the center section is painted with semi matte aluminum, as the real one is not bright on the center section of the wing, it looks good but plain to me, after paneling ad weathering will come to life, sorry for the crappy pictures, but the more silver the more difficult to photograph, minor glitches on the alclad over the wings but with the weathering and paneling will go away PS: dont know if it is the forum itself but as i upload the pictures they loose sharpness the ones on facebook look real sharp -

Neo, when i paint with alclad i normally paint panel by panel in different shades of metal color, it is a pain in the ....... but the finish is more real than painting the hole airplane in one shade of metal, here is a small update, in this pictures you can see why i paint the yellow bands first, so i can use the black base color around the yellow and when you pass your finger over it you dont fell the steps of the paint as when you paint it over the alclad, hope you like this pictures -

After few weeks strugling with this model and all the details, finally the black primer for the alclad is ready, i was thinking by looking at this jet in black and yellow, how about if i paint some yellow numbers on the wings and tail and turn it into a pylon racer instead of the HUFF????? :hmmm: Black paint was sanded with 12000 grit paper to remove ani imperfection on te black paint, it really look nice, this weekend will be a ALCLAD weekend finally the las stage of the paint job -

Yellow bands are done, next step will be let it dry for 2 days, then sand the yellow with 12000 grit sand paper and mask the yellow bands with masking tape where the hard line of the yellow is and then sand out the excess then comes the gloss black base paint for the alcald, my goal is to have a smooth transition from NMF to the yellow paint -

working on the fitting of the windshield and fuselage, and now the yellow bands, starting the process with white first then orange so the yellow will be real yellow masking tape is gone, next will be 8000 grit sanding to remove the bump on the orange paint before painting the yellow, i will use the gloss black coat for the alclad as the black stripes surrounding the yellow -

Thanks Harv, one advice, this is a sculpture not a plastic model, you will need lots of putty, sculpting skills and lots of sand paper in order to fix all the fitting issues, but at the end it look really good -

Finally i big update, the Sabre is ready for the paint room. after a long strugle with all the misfitting of the model and a ton of tamiya putty, everything is in place and looks smooth, here is a overview of the hole airplane as you can see, the BIIIG gap in the front of the fuselage attaching the wing is gone. The AIRES wheel wells and speed brake housing look amazing , much better than the simple details of the model another flaw of this model was fixed after lot of putty, sanding and rescribing panel lines, the union of the front and rear fuselage was a mess with a big deformation where both pieces join, now look smooth soon will start the part i like most of this hobby, painting
