  1. New low-viz H-60 Seahawk family part 3 decal sheet 35-009 coming this summer. Part 1 already had some MH-60Rs mixed with other Seahawk variants, but this part 3 sheet is exclusively for more Romeos with 12 new options (10 US and 2 Aussie) with mostly all new squadrons covered: HSM-37 Easyriders (2015-16) HSM-40 Airwolves (2012) HSM-46 Grandmasters (2022) HSM-46 Grandmasters (2023) HSM-48 Vipers (two variations from 2022) HSM-71 Raptors (2021-22) HSM-72 Proud Warriors (2022) HSM-74 Swamp Foxes (2016) HSM-75 Wolf Pack (2021) HSM-77 Saberhawks (2020) RAN 816th Squadron [Nomad] (2020) RAN 816th Squadron [Convict] (2021) HSM-46 and HSM-48 were also covered in part 1, but these on this new sheet are different schemes/years. HSM-77 option can be paired with sister MH-60S squadron HSC-12 on part 2 sheet from the same USS Ronald Reagan 2020 cruise. Similar to parts 1 & 2, this new part 3 will also include the full airframe data sheet 35-002.
  2. New 1/35 sheet 35-006 coming for Search & Rescue (SAR) MH-60S helos from Naval Air Stations Key West, Whidbey Island, Lemoore, Fallon (2 options), Pax River (2 options), and China Lake (Dust Devils). Also included is an extra scheme for the HSC-2 retro Korean War scheme. These are now at Cartograf for printing and looking at an early 2024 release. Some background blurbs: Back in 2021 when my initial low-viz USN H-60 decal sheets were planned, I had intended to include a couple SARs but since they shared so little to the standard low-viz schemes I had removed them from consideration to focus only on the fleet schemes and with so many of the latter available to choose from. After finally finishing the low viz sheets (35-002, -003, -004) last year, I started work on a follow up sheet dedicated to SAR schemes but ended up putting it on a pause especially since Kitty Hawk fizzled away right around then. Now that Kitty Hawk kits are coming back through Zimi Model, and plus the Academy MH-60S also still available, I decided to get around to finishing this SAR sheet. The Kitty Hawk MH-60S kit has a somewhat similar Naval Aviation Centennial scheme for west coast's HSC-3 but I always thought the east coast's HSC-2 scheme was better looking - plus the penguin artwork. Since most of the printed colors were already needed for the SARs, I wanted to include that HSC-2 scheme too, which is why all except that one on this release are SARs. Although by pure coincidence it's related to the SARs, that same H-60 was later transferred to Key West as a SAR and was already included in the sheet in the KW SAR form, and at KW it still retained some of the unique colors carried over from the Centennial scheme. Anyway, the pics....
  3. see more recent 2022 posts for updated info since original obsolete post This next AOAdecals sheet was in the making for awhile and of course KH bellied up in the meantime, but this weekend I still went ahead and finished the last squadron I planned to cover. This preview image (ignore the pink) is simply a data dump to show most of the schemes' decals, the actual layout of the sheet(s) hasn't begun yet and also not shown yet is a separate data/stencil sheet. Estimating a fall/winter release. Due to space restrictions not sure if all will make the final cut, as of now could include up to sixteen(!) options: HS-5 Nightdippers (HH-60H & SH-60F) HS-11 Dragonslayers (HH-60H & SH-60F) HSL-51 Warlords (SH-60B) HSL-43 Battle Cats (SH-60B) HSM-46 Grandmasters (MH-60R) HSM-48 Vipers (MH-60R) HSM-70 Spartans (MH-60R) HSM-73 Battlecats (MH-60R) HSC-9 Tridents (MH-60S) HSC-11 Dragonslayers (MH-60S) HSC-15 Red Lions (2x MH-60S) HSC-22 Sea Knights (MH-60S) HSC-28 Dragon Whales (MH-60S)
  4. This sheet provides the extensive F-4 Phantom airframe data (including panel numbers/labels) for either an F-4B or F-4J. The airframe data included is the painted (open stencil) type of markings commonly seen in the 1960's into the early 1970's on USN/USMC F-4B and F-4J Phantoms. Includes placards for the landing gear, speed brakes, speed brake wells, auxiliary air doors, wing external fuel tanks, and main and nose gear doors. Also includes markings for all pylons, bomb adapter racks (inboard and outboard pylon types), and LAU-7 rail markings. Note that this is not the printed (full letter) style of airframe data - check references for which style of airframe data was applied for a specific F-4. Expected Feb/Mar Now available at: www.AOAdecals.com
  5. Posted these a couple weeks on Facebook. Yet more A-6 decals, this time exclusively post Vietnam Marine Intruders: 32-035 VMA(AW)-533 Hawks (2) Part 2 specifically covers their mid 1980's carrier periods on the Saratoga and earlier JFK dets (hence the AA and AC tail codes rather than their own ED). This will be a low budget "cheap" sheet like part 1. Along with other AOA 1/32 sheets, the vast majority of 533's A-6 schemes are available. 32-036 Marine Drumsticks Include high-viz A-6E decals for VMA(AW)-121, -224, and -322 from the 1970's during the colorful heyday. Includes basic airframe data/stencil sheet (full sheet 32-026 is available separately). With the virus situation, release date is unknown. MicroScale currently have three smaller scale sheets that were due in earlier this month but were obviously affected by the virus. (If anyone is interested, it's two 1/72 A-6 low viz sheets and a 1/48 HMM(rein) sheet). 32-035: 32-036:
  6. All decals are currently on sale at 20% off, except tailhook stripes and ordnance sheets. The discount will be shown only at checkout. www.AOAdecals.com As always free shipping within the US. If more than one is desired of a particular sheet, an additional separate purchase is required as the discount apparently doesn't work on multiple purchases of the same sheet. For international buyers, I will manually refund the second (third, fourth, etc) shipping charge(s) if orders are placed back-to-back.
  7. Continuing with the F-4 theme after the recently announced F-4 airframe data and VF-154 sheets, here are three "small" sheets covering USMC F-4 Phantoms in the Vietnam War. 32-032 three F-4B Phantoms of VMFA-323 Death Rattlers 32-033 two F-4J Phantoms of VMFA-232 Red Devils 32-034 one F-4J Phantom of VMFA-212 Lancers Each sheet will also include a set of the full airframe data (sheet 32-031). Estimated release in March. now available at: www.AOAdecals.com As mentioned, all three will also include airframe data:
  8. Another single squadron sheet from AOA, this time for F-4J’s of VF-154 Black Knights in the 1970s and covering standard and CAG schemes. Planning for early 2019. Now available at: www.AOAdecals.com
  9. Next 1/32 AOA sheet (32-016) release is a little different as it covers one specific F-4J Phantom (BuNo 155887) as she appeared during three Vietnam cruises while with the same squadron (VF-143 Pukin' Dogs, callsign "Taproom") and also same modex each time (102). Not a MiG killer, just one example of the many, many other Phantoms that took part in the war daily. The Pukin' Dogs Vietnam F-4B's have been covered in decal form before (again, because of MiG kills), their later wartime F-4Js have been neglected until now. Sheet covers the Vietnam/WESTPAC cruises: USS Constellation 1969-70, USS Enterprise 1971-72, and USS Enterprise 1972-73. Among others, thankfully received help from 102's own plane captain Tom Chergi from the 72-73 cruise. For the 1972-73 cruise, this aircraft also bore the name of 143's XO, CDR Harley Hall, who sadly become the last Navy combat loss on 27 January 1973 flying Taproom 113 (the day the Paris Peace Accords were signed) and last American to be listed as POW. While his RIO was later released, there is still controversy and contradictions surrounding the ultimate fate of CDR Hall. If anyone saw the 1975 documentary "Threshold - The Blue Angel Experience", this was filmed during CDR Hall's time when he was the Blue Angels flight leader and as such is featured in it. Back to the sheet: Unlike vast majority of AOA releases, only minimal stenciling/common markings are included, such as the different ejection seat warning triangles used for each cruise, static port stencils, national insignias, and two styles of jet intake warnings and RESCUE markings. F-4's were liberally covered with stencils and is too large of a project to be covered for this release. A full F-4 stencil and panel number decal sheet may be a future release from AOA (not currently planned as of today). The sheet also includes fuel tank and FOD cover squadron identifiers. Now in stock. Printed by Cartograf. Price $22 (free shipping in the US) www.AOAdecals.com (Click image for larger view)
  10. I keep coming back to my favorite aircraft, here's more new upcoming A-6 Intruder sheets and updated reprint of the stencil sheet. Similar to the previous VA-65 Tigers sheet, these again only cover one squadron, this time VA-75 Sunday Punchers. 32-027 (Part 1): Includes two sets of basic schemes, both CAG and line jet schemes included. First pair (A-6A) cover their third and final Vietnam deployment and the next pair (A-6E) cover their more well known postwar white tail scheme. Includes markings for MER identifications as well as fuel tank markings. Also included is a new expanded release of the complete A-6 stencil/marking sheet (32-026) which supersedes the original (32-002), this new sheet also includes a landing gear placards, walkway striping, and a few other minor additions. As before, it will also be available for purchase separately. 32-028 (Part 2): A relatively small sheet covering two low viz schemes from the late 80s to the Desert Storm period. Decals also included for fuel tanks, tailhooks, ejection seats, ladder wells, landing gear, and speed brake interiors. www.AOAdecals.com 32-027: 32-026 (included with 32-027) 32-028:
  11. First of hopefully more, here's a new "budget" minded sheet of the high viz period. This new release, 32-029, is another 1/32 A-6A sheet and continues focus on VMA(AW)-533 Hawks. The first AOA 1/32 sheet (32-001) included their three overall schemes used during their Vietnam War deployments (1967-69 at Chu Lai and 1972-73 at Nam Phong), and another earlier sheet (32-003) included their Desert Storm scheme. This new sheet 32-029 expands that coverage to include some of the schemes in the early to mid-1970s at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan. Similar to the earlier 1/32 F-4 sheets, this time again only primary airframe stencils and markings are provided (for one aircraft). However, for those looking for full airframe coverage, a specific extensive sheet covering the A-6 airframe stencils and markings is available to purchase separately (32-002 and now 32-026). Only $13.50 w/free shipping in US http://www.aoadecals.com/
  12. With Fisher's big fat face A-1 conversions now out, what is the interest level for VNAF decals for it? I could do a full release sheet covering them but not committed to releasing yet. Potential sheet could provide eight VNAF schemes and a "bonus" USAF option (it kept the tiger face). Two periods of markings are provided for all airframes except one aircraft. I'm guessing cost would be in the $20-25 range? So, is it worth it progressing/finalizing? This is early look of pretty much what it would include, some tweaking would be done and some smaller markings added from show here:
  13. ALL 1/72 & 1/32 OV-10A Bronco decals are now on sale for this weekend at 20+% off at: www.AOAdecals.com Sale applies to direct purchases only (not applicable to ebay purchases). Prices are marked down on each page; if sale price not shown be sure to refresh/reload the page. (happy father's day!) 1/72 1/32
  14. 14 schemes total - 11 O-2A (10 USAF grey and black, 1 VNAF grey) & 3 O-2B (USAF camo-ed). Included O-2B options in the hopes Roden will release an O-2B boxing or someone will produce a B conversion, or for those looking to scratchbuild or even those not particularly concerned with A vs B differences. Enough data/stencil markings are provided for at least two complete aircraft - potentially more if you go with the overall black options or O-2B since neither wore many stencils. Stencils are for the Vietnam period, no kit decals are needed. Also included is bonus "THE FAC" decals to replace the kit version (the black schemes in this release don't use it.) Estimated release in Feb. Price $19.50. www.AOAdecals.com
  15. Will be doing another A-6 sheet afterall.... only covering VA-65 Tigers. Will span 25yrs of their aircraft though, starting with their three Vietnam War deployments (including the early camo test scheme and the ill-fated 1967 Forrestal cruise), then into the mid 70s period with their more well known schemes, and the beginning of low viz in the early 80s, and ending at Desert Storm with several options. Both sheets now available at www.AOAdecals.com 32-023 - six schemes covering the high viz period (includes full stencils for one aircraft): 32-024 - four schemes covering the low viz period:
  16. This will be somewhat limited release due to the nature of the subject since it will require a conversion set to make an F-4B out of a Tamiya 1/32 F-4 Phantom kit. As usual for AOA the subjects are from the Vietnam War with six options (3 different aircraft) for VMFA-115 Silver Eagles and two options for VMFA-314 Black Knights. It will include national insignia and the most common data stencils/markings (not complete F-4 airframe data). (The eagle markings look dark grey in these images but they're being printed in silver metallic.) Now in stock. Price $24 www.AOAdecals.com
  17. This F-4J Phantom scheme I wanted for probably 15+ years for myself and finally decided to do it and release it as a simple "low budget" sheet that features only the squadron specific markings. Although VMFA-334 Falcons has been covered before, the falcon insignia in particular was somewhat lacking in any scale until now. Also in order to keep cost down, only one aircraft is covered, although it can be represented either from Vietnam or later in 1969 when -334 were in Japan. (edit...) Contrary to what I initially planned, included will be national insignia and intake warnings as well as a few other common markings (similar to what was provided on my earlier F-4J VF-143 sheet) Now in stock. Price $11.50 Printed by Microscale www.AOAdecals.com
  18. I know Zotz released an F-4B MiG killer sheet, how about any interest in some mud movers? Knowing that 1/32 F-4B Phantom conversions are pricey with limited market, if there is enough interest in VMFA-115 to justify printing decals I'd like to release this. May need to do pre-orders in this case to make sure there are actual sales, but first looking to gauge interest level before I get to that point. I have three of their aircraft covered, each from two time periods from Vietnam covering two basic schemes:
  19. The previously released 1/48 and 1/72 O-1 sheet has been expanded (3 new VNAF schemes), corrected, improved now for the new 1/32 Roden kit. This time they'll be printed by Cartograf. 32-019 covers US Army and USAF (includes both blue and black USAF markings) 32-020 covers mainly VNAF with a few more US Army plus USMC $18 each (free shipping in US) Now available www.AOAdecals.com (Click images for larger views) 32-019: 32-020:
  20. Now that the summer break has ended, AOA's next release is the previously mentioned VNAF A-1H (AD-6) Skyraiders. Turned out to be too many for one sheet, so there will be two releases, each one still also pretty full. The sheets cover overall 36440 grey, grey over white, overall 36473 grey, USAF SEA camo, and various VNAF style camo Skyraiders. 32-017 will have 10 schemes (8 aircraft) 32-018 will have 11 schemes Prices $20 each (free shipping in US) Printed by Cartograf Now in stock www.AOAdecals.com (Click images for larger views) 32017: 32018:
  21. Vietnam A-4's were supposed to be the second AOA release after the initial USMC A-6A sheet about a year ago but they got pushed back for various reasons. They are up for release finally (in 1/32) - estimated to be available in January. Rather than one extra-large release again (like the last A-6A sheet…) this time they've been broken down to somewhat smaller sizes: Part 1 (32-010) 10 schemes (also will include stencil sheet 32-012) VMA-223 Bulldogs – 5 schemes covering 1966-69 from Chu Lai VA-94 Mighty Shrikes – 4 schemes, 3 cruises (Bon Homme Richard 1968, 1969, and 1970 - replacement for the very inaccurate “BOBBIE†CAG jet) VA-106 Gladiators – 1 scheme (Intrepid 1968-69) Part 2 (32-011) 9 schemes (also will include stencil sheet 32-012) VMA-311 Tomcats – 4 schemes covering 1966-70 from Chu Lai VA-144 Roadrunners – 2 schemes, 2 cruises (Kitty Hawk 1967-68, and Bon Homme Richard 1969) VA-155 Silver Foxes – 3 schemes, 2 cruises (Coral Sea 1964-65, Ranger 1968-69) Stencil sheet will also be available for individual sale in limited number. Profiles posted - see page 2 And yes, the intention is to release in smaller scale at later date. Now in stock and available to order www.AOAdecals.com (Click image for larger view)
  22. Even though there are several other squadrons I planned (and wanted) to cover, this part 4 (32-014) release covering the Vietnam A-4 decal series will be the last one in 1/32. 32-014 will have 6 schemes: VMA-211 Wake Island Avengers – two A-4E schemes covering 1968-69 from Chu Lai, one with and one without the hump. VA-22 Fighting Redcocks – two A-4F schemes from the Bon Homme Richard 1970 cruise, one CAG scheme and one standard line scheme (the CAG coincidently is same cruise as the "BOBBIE" VA-94 scheme in previous sheet, this also covers all of BHR's A-4 squadrons between part 1, 2, and 4 decals with VA-94, -144, and now -22). VA-55 Warhorses – two schemes, one A-4E from the USS Ranger 1965-66 cruise and one A-4F from the USS Hancock cruise. Again, a copy of the stencil sheet (32-012) will also be included. Price $22 Now in stock www.AOAdecals.com (Click image for larger view)
  23. I thought I posted about this already on LSP but I guess I didn't. AOA sheet (SS-001) will be for the A-6 Intruder again but this time it will be a small special sheet with all three scales on one sheet. These Intruders were A-6E TRAM aircraft modified in 1989 to represent A-6A during Vietnam in 1972 for a particular movie. The sheet includes the exterior markings to reproduce Devil 501 or 505. Decals for crew helmets for both aircraft and one external fuel tank are also provided. (The national insignias are intentionally mis-proportioned on the decal sheet compared to specs, this is how they appeared on the actual 501 and 505) Now in stock. Printed by Microscale. Price $13 www.AOAdecals.com
  24. I rewrote this (Jan 9) - these will are released. A package of AMS Resin's previously released A-4C conversion (for Trumpeter kit) along with new AOA decals. Now available: http://aoadecals.com/32013/ $60 US / $69 international - which includes AMS Resin conversion and the the AOA decal sheet (free shipping in US) This conversion package would include three A-4C's from Vietnam. To my knowledge, none of these schemes have ever been done in any scale before: VMA-214 Blacksheep 1966/67 VA-146 Blue Diamonds 1964-65 VA-216 Black Diamonds 1964-65. Decals are on one full size sheet, and as usual include stencils as well as specific squadron drop tank markings for two tanks each (and helmet decals for all three schemes as well).
  25. AOA's favorite "modern" aircraft. Did not anticipate releasing another A-6A release in 1/32 but couldn't resist, too many combat schemes not covered. This is a LARGE release, largest by AOA (so far) - four full sheets of decals. 16 options, including two A-6B Mod 0 Iron Hands and two KA-6D tankers. Plus three CAG schemes - including the never done in any scale "patience my ass" vulture 224 scheme VMA(AW)-224 Bengals: USS Coral Sea 1971-72 (5 options - 3x A-6A including CAG scheme, 1x A-6B, & 1x KA-6D) VA-95 Green Lizards (technically not "war" but supported Operation End Sweep along North Vietnam): USS Coral Sea 1973 (2 options - 2x A-6A, including CAG scheme) VA-165 Boomers: USS Ranger 1967-68 (1 option - A-6A) USS Ranger 1968-69 (1 option - A-6A) USS America 1970 (1 option - A-6A) USS Constellation 1971-72 (1 option - A-6A CAG scheme) VA-196 Main Battery: USS Constellation 1968-69 (1 option - A-6A) USS Ranger 1969-70 (1 option - A-6A) USS Enterprise 1971-72 (2 options - 1x A-6A & x1 A-6B) USS Enterprise 1972-73 (1 option - KA-6D) Now available www.AOAdecals.com (Click image for larger view)
