  1. Thanks for the info, Phil. Yep, guess I'll have to break out the monster roll of masking tape.
  2. I asked this question on another forum and thought I'd do so here as well. At the end of step 111, you have a partially complelted landing gear attached to the bulkhead. This assembly is mounted into the nacelle before it's halves are closed up. Am I seeing this correclty? When done, the gear can be retracted into the bay? Now, if you go on, other steps will attach the gear into it's downward position. However, if this assembly can be retracted, it would allow easier masking and such for camo painting. I've already figured I can build the thing and put the engines in afterwards, but the gear being retracted would be great! Anyone?
  3. I'll be there as well. Should be interesting.
  4. I got this kit a month or so ago and have put it in the stash to see what everyone has to say about it. To my surprise, I haven't read much. Is the kit that good? No problems or accuracy issues? Discuss.
  5. "I would much rather give Tamiya that sort of money simply because I can count on the quality." Francis, that line right there pretty much sums it up for me. For the most part, if Tamiya came out with a kit that I wanted for that price, there's a good chance I won't even find out if it's any good before I buy it. I can't say the same about Trumpeter. I guess that single fact is what ticks me off the most.
  6. I've got some pics already. Just thought maybe you had some I didn't.
  7. Well I'll be d**ned. You're right. Ya gotta be carefull because apparently some of the early MIG-17 had MIG-15 seats. Those don't have that handle. I actually don't have any good pics of this late seat, but looking at pics of the actual later aircraft, I can see the red handle inside. Thanks, Harvey! One more thing: where are those cockpit pics you were talking about? I didn't see any pics of the real cockpit at the link you posted.
  8. Here's the mystery part that came with the MIG-17 CE cockpit set that did not come with the MIG-15 set. http://picasaweb.google.com/danafra0/MIG17...867703385639250 http://picasaweb.google.com/danafra0/MIG17...867710222856514
  9. Harvey, I looked through pictures at the link you gave me and didn't see any pics of MIG cockpits. At least not real cockpits. Is that what's supposed to be there? I'm still going to get you a picture of that part. Waiting on the camera batteries to charge right now.
  10. I was just noticing how blue the interior color is. I may go with some type of light blue.
  11. No, I don't think that's them. I'll try and get a pic and upload it for you. BTW, have anymore pics like that or did you snag that off the web somewhere?
  12. Actually, I think I've identified two of em. One appears to be a ventral fin. Not sure if it adds one or replaces the exisitng one. The other is actually in the instructions. It's labeled as aux panel. Not on the MIG-15 kit. The last part is labeled as pull handle but it's not called out anywhere in the instructions or the drawings. I know the seats between the two were slightly different. I wonder if it goes on the seat somewhere? BTW, MIG-15bis and MIG-17F
  13. I posted this over on HS so I thought I post here as well. Ok, I have 1/32 scale Hobbycraft MIG-15 and MIG-17 kits on the bench to build concurrently since they are so similar. I also have their respective Cutting Edge sets. As one would expect, the kits pretty much use the same parts. The instructions that CE provided are also nearly the same. Here's where the problem come in. Only someone who has at least used the MIG-17 set can answer this. The MIG-17 set has thee additional parts that are not mentioned in the instructions. Any ideas on these parts?
  14. I'm finally ready to break out my big Tamiya F-14A with all the Teknics F-14D Tomcat/Bombcat conversion sets and now can't find any decal sets for sale. Great Models has one but it hasn't been in stock for some time. I went to Two Bobs, and they have a Zolts VF-2 Bounty Hunters set, and that's it. Are they any other to chose from? Dana
  15. Solved! Thanks for the pic. The insturment panel sprue insn't labeled as "k" so I guess my eyes kept going right past it. Thanks again.
