  1. The new, more accurately rendered floor sections are quite different from the previous versions. Rough shapes are there, will need further detailing. Finally the purpose of the leather cover makes sense, it was a weight saving measure to obstruct the hole under the pilot's seat.
  2. The console on the left hand cockpit wall has been relocated to a more accurate position.
  3. This oldie is not that bad once you've removed those huge rivet heads
  4. The new floor is starting to take shape, it is now comprised of two parts, the upper that shall receive its plywood sections and under it is the top of the wing with its rows of rivets, it needs the fuel gauges and control column to be installed.
  5. No point denying it, guilty as charged!
  6. The console on the left side of the cockpit was located at 6.5 millimeters from the edge of the cockpit, when it should have sat deeper, at 8 millimeters. First it should have rested against the floor (if it did not sit on the floor there would be no no need for cutouts in the said floor) and secondly it should have matched the rivet pattern on the outside, also not the case. Thirdly the scale accurate throttle quadrant could not sit in its position without having to be trimmed at the bottom. The console was removed and will be relocated to its more accurate position.
  7. The 85-gal. fuselage fuel tank was undersized and had to be lengthened by 3 millimeters (Thank you Raf!). You may also notice that the cockpit floor is no longer attached. The author of this blog has finally found a picture of original floor sections and the part was removed and scrapped because it was inaccurate.
  8. Radio and battery (painted and weathered) are from BarracudaCast's BR32014 P-51D Mustang cockpit upgrade set. All that remains to be done in that area is the Dynamotor and the rack, and to figure out the wiring.
  9. Thank you! A Razorback will be released soon enough, hopefully by Tamiya. Given that many parts are common between the B and D versions, it would be easy for them. All they only need to do is add the fuselage spine to their "D" mold, make a new canopy and tweak the wings a little.
  10. Minor adjustments to the cockpit floor, in order to improve its accuracy
  11. Need do build the SCR-522-A radio with its ancillary equipment. In real life it measured 16 5/32 by 12 9/16 by 11 10/16 inch, meaning 41.03 by 31.90 by 27.14 centimeters, with the Dynamotor measuring 12 17/37 by 8 5/32 by 5 1/8 inch (31.64 by 20.71 by 13.01 cm). In 1:32nd this means that the radio should measure 12.82 by 9.96 by 8.51 millimeters, while the scale dynamotor should measure 9.88 by 6.47 by 4.06 millimeters. These are the rough shapes that need to be detailed. To the left you can see the undersized Aires radio.
  12. AWESOME, you've done a grand job! Congratulations!
  13. Thank you! Correct, the Lifelike set it is. You should also know that when this kit was first released it had these markings as its decal choice. Kind of fitting, don't you think?
  14. Thank you, thank you! (takes a bow)
  15. Wasn't entirely satisfied with the first version of the leather cover, another one was made. Not much of it will be seen with the seat is in place, but at least it's there!
  16. Cockpit warm air tubing (the control knob is right in front of it) test fitted.
  17. Need your help, Guys! Under the pilot's seat there was an "Aircraft disabling device", have no idea what it was. Can anyone PLEASE enlighten me, have searched and searched but it was in vain... Also did a fire extinguisher exist on the left rear of the cockpit, next to the pilot's seat?
  18. It is your kit, so you can do whatever you like... Forgive me for trying to help.
  19. Sorry to break it to you, but there is nothing wrong with the angle of attack of the nacelles on the Revell kit. The engine nacelles overlap perfectly on this Heinkel factory drawing, dated 15th of May,1944: Pictures are misleading because they are taken from below the level of the aircraft (eye level at a height of 1.80 meters at most compared to 4.4 meters).
  20. Have started to detail the cockpit floor
  21. Glad you like it, there is more to come!
  22. Thank you! The leather cover under the seat and the "glove" for the control column were replicated with aluminum foil.
