  1. Koala: Good luck with your t-Bolt . I've attached a pick of a red cowled P-47 I did some time ago using kit supplied decals. I substituted hypodermic needles for the mg/blast tubes....

  2. Dear Allok: That's me a little odd.. ;) Actually this kit is more properly called the Phantom Mustang. It took some time digging this one out of the stash earlier tonight...quite a bit of operating features, operating prop, landing gear (main and tail), and can drop two 500lb bombs. Sliding canopy, pilot figure, and the reissue I have from 1995 has WWII decals. Two electric motors and quite a bite of wiring, cams, and gears..!! Did I really put this togeather when I was 12 years old. Memory sez yes and all of the operating features worked as well...wow...that's cool... <_< The challenge will be in the painting as the GB rules allow no additional parts....

Why...will be a thing of beauty..!! Mate..!!

Time fer another pint as the new year approaches on the east coast of the USA....about 12 minutes now...

  3. Dear Allok: I always encourage a little model recycling...I have had good luck with amonia based cleaners for paint stripping, just help it along with an old toothbrush scrubbing at the little nooks and crannies...be sure to rinse off the solution....don't leave it soak too long or you rish warping the styrene...I look forward to seeing the 190 arise from the ashes, phoenix like into the "glow" of completed build status... :P

    Cheers and Happy New Year...!!

  4. It's time I build my 2nd Visible Mustang..the first was built in the early 1960's and has long since been in the big dumpster in the sky...I got a re-issue copy a number of years ago for nostalgia purposes and it's been in the stash ever since...

Pics of box and contents to follow...

    Cheers and Happy New Year's..!!!

  5. White Glue...sometimes I use it for attaching canopies and other clear parts, but I have started using a clear glue designed for s=attaching watch crystels. Another use for w/g is seam filling..applied with a toothpick or paint brush. Of course it works fine for temporary attachment of parts...and it works well for the making of scenic diorama bases or the attahment of wood to plastic etc.

  6. Likewise, I've gor three of the 1/18 th 21st Century T. prebuilts (some assembly req.), a P-47D razorback, a TBF Avenger, and a P-40B. They do take up lots of space...Eventually I want to do a "scale" display with the P-40, a 1/18, 1/24, 1/32,1/48, 1/72, and 1/144 kits. From the largest model redition to the smallest...currently I am not aware of a P-40B available in 1/144..

  7. Geeeze..Louise...!!

with all of this P-400, P-39, discussion I may have to finally complete some of the P-39, P-400 projects I've started (none in 1/32 BTW  ), and work my way up to the larger scales....maybe 21st Cent will do one in 1/18th   ... I've been reading the book, Lightning Strike by author, Donald A. Davis. The title refers to the the secret mission to kill Adm. Yamamoto carried out by P-38's. However it also lays out the history of the Pacific T. and has some very interesting information of the USAAF's use of P-400's and P-39's in the ground support role during the epic battle for Guadalcanal....this tpo get's the Airacobra juices flowing... ;)

  8. I'm thinking, looking at the announced new kit list from Trumpeter, that they may be rushing to market w/o taking the time to get all of the finer points correct...this isn't just a Trumpeter problem...but they have a most aggressive marketing stategy...

    Cheers,
