  1. Mike: Yes, I've experienced the 'offended" syndrome ...I usually respond with a hearty "Lighten Up..!"...some folks are just too serious.... ....I think it's time for a U-Haul space shuttle....

  2. Texas:

Thanks, this kit was an original Spitsfire issue circa early 1970's. Finished in the 1980's using Humbrol and Pactra enamals. Kit and other sourced dcals were used. Future wax was used during decal application and to coat the canopy. Last year, during my Messaschnitzel build I added brake lines, wing lights, and some scuff marks on the wing roots to this Spitsfire. Currently they share a display case.

    Cheers,

  3. An interesting question....the "filler" used would have to hold up with some dynamic conditions, weather, flight stress, vibration when the guns were fired, exposure to solvents (ground crews used raw gasoline to clean and strip paint), and the extreme cold temperatures at altitude....

Perhaps some period tech manual could shed some light on what was used, or some personal recollection from someone that was there and worked on Mustang maintenance....

The paint used to prime and paint the wings could/would add to the durability of the filled areas (IMO)....

    Cheers,

    ggc
