  1. Thanks guys! I was hoping for that answer! I wasn't thrilled about another `light Gray' underside job. I think I'll try one of the german RLM light blues! Thanks again!
  2. Thanks LSP Chris! That's an awesome example! Do you think clear sprue would make a noticable difference? I might have to break out the other 109 after my MiG 21 is finished! Gary V.
  3. I was wondering how you guys "fade" the decals to get that worn look. I can weather the paint job but not the decals. I would really like to learn that trick! Thanks, Gary V.

I was looking at the Hasegawa Zero I have and started to build it. It's really old. I got it off ebay a long time ago cheap. I inspected it and a number of parts were broken, including the one piece cowl! I fixed the cowl and rescribed it. However looking at the rest of th kit I decided to re-shelve it. My question(s) is: Does the Revell kit have recessed panel lines? I built one long ago and it was a fairly simple kit. The plastic seemed easier to workwith too. I am thinking of getting one instead of doing the Hasegawa kit. I know they both need work but looking at that hard brittle plastic in the Hasegawa kit has turned me off of it. All opinions welcome! I have the tamiya kit but I am waiting to do that when the kids get a little older. I don't want it to go for a test flight at that price! Thanks guys, Gary V.
  5. Thanks for the input! The one I have is in a Hasegawa/MiniCraft box and look pretty old. The detail looks OK for me, (not amazing like my Tamiya I'm too afraid to build!) but are you rescribing or re-riveting any of the airframe. I don't think I should (at this point). The wing guns (not all) are no longer atached to the wing but still attached to the sprue. I think that was bad planning on Hasegawa's part. Thanks for your input! I just went to the garage and pulled it out! I would love to see pictures of your project! I'm still limited as far as posting my stuff (I'm lame) Looking forward to seeing your Zero! Gary V.
  6. haven't seen any builds of this kit. Is there a (pre-Tamiya) reason for this? I have a couple in the pile and really haven't checked them out yet. I got them cheap right before I heard about the Tamiya Zero. Guess those guys knew about the Tamiya kit and dumped the Hasegawa offering. I know it's old. I was just wondering if there are any pitfalls(advice) I should look out for. Thanks in advance. Gary V.
  7. I undestand the Planes of Fame Corsair is a restoration. However, I went to several sites and found A LOT of pictures showing the step on the starboard flap. The pictures I found appear to be older, possibly wartime photos. I didn't list all the links I found but there are tons. This was discussed somewhere else (another site) not too long ago (I wish I had saved the picture) and one of the participants in the discussion provided an old picture of a 1a that had the clearest (in my opinion) proof of the step. I am no Corsair expert but I find it interesting that there is evidence of the step and so much debate about it. Maybe it was an early production thing or whatever, but it exists.
  8. I built the Revell years ago. It was the razorback. Anyway, can Chris or one of the other P-47 guys tell me why the tail wheel has that giant groove in it? I can't think of any reason and I have never seen anything like it! Sorry for the dumb question but the other P-47 post reminded me to ask! Thanks Gary V
