Simply horrible!
You need a LOT of Putty and good nerves.. This one is really not a "Weekend Job"
I didn´t do very much on it.. Straight out of the box with no extra detailing.
Just as a "warm up" after a over 2 years building break before i start the Ju 88
I have see that i used the wrong canopy... this will changed soon....
-
Hehe
Thanks for the comments..
The Desk is my PC-Workspace too.. So i have to clean it up after building.. Not easy everytime

Here are some pics of my 1/24 Airfix "Emil"
This one is a "just for fun build" straight out of the box to relax my fingers for the 1/32 Ju 88
Some decals and some parts have to be added, a second coat of Future and a little washing and weathering will come in the next days
Unfortunately i have no pics from the build.. Simply forgot to make some...
-
I REALLY love that build!!
-
Yes.. unfortunately in the net is nothing to find about that crash. But you will find it in a lot of books with this date and place..
Maybe someone owns Siegfried Radtke´s "Kampfgeschwader 54" .. I think there will the loss and also the names of the crew listed!
-
The B3+BM is a well known crash..
Downed 21.08.1940 at Sussex....

VERY great work Johan ! Some of your pictures looks like photos of a real museum plane !
Graet great great !!!
And now i´m curious on Merlin´s 88 build.. This one must also be a amazing one.. With 100% scaled down right colours .. mixed drop by drop and every frame will be in the right place...
Carry on Merlin an show us yours!!
Or you at least in stress by mixing the colours???

Thanks Guttorm!
I was 100% sure it is a A1 and only the perspective makes the wing "longer"
Sorry about that guys! Don´t want tell bulls..t ...

The pictures are dated November 1942

I´m searching for the correct camo too
Unfortunately my uncle is dead and i can´t ask him about that..
But i think it is the "Standard Camo". i "blowed up" the picture as big as i could and nothing "special" in paining to find.
My other photos are showing a A4 (they are from the 8. Staffel because my uncle changed to this unit) the plane is wearing a dotted underside Camo in black
and partially overpainting of the markings also in black. You also can found the "Flammenvernichter" on the exhausts..
The A1 looks in absolutely standard 70/71/65..
Please note the small "triangle band" un the fuselage behind the wings. This is painted in yellow and a "relic" from the Battle of Britain....
Here you see what i mean...
Remenber this one is a A4! But she also show the the standard colour on the upper side.. Later the upperside was painted over in "Mäander-Camo"..

There is small radiation from the instruments.. up to the early 60ies Radium-226 was used for the "Leuchtmasse" (glowing-colour) in instruments and watches.
This radiation can harm you if the glass of an instrument is broken or you open it for cleaning or so...

So it seems to be correct.
Maybe someone will find the Manual to this instrument..
This will be:
L.Dv 544 (Entwurf einer Beschreibung, Bedienungs- und Einbringevorschrift für das Kursvisier (Kuvi 1) )
and the
L.Dv 546 (Beschreibung und Bedienungsvorschrift für das Kursvisier (Kuvi 2) )
Than we will know the whole function...
-
Thanks
But now is to discover how the Kuvi works and what´s the job of the frame.. The frame looks asymetric and may have a plate of plexy or something else..
Guttorm.. In your A1.. can´t you find the "fitting point" for the frame in the nose? maybe this can give a little answer.....
-
I´ve translated the parts from the Lotfe manual where about the Kuvi is told..
You may download the Manual to compare it.. Maybe i have translated something wrong
On Page 15 it says:
1 B ) Height under 4000 meters
Pilot flies with KuVi respectively over targetspripes on the
canopy (Side-drift setting o degrees) on to the target
On page 18:
2 c) Look ahead 70 to 80 gegrees, target roughly approach over Kuvi
or "Pendular longitudinal Strings"
On page 21
E. Low level attack
The approach made by the pilot over the Kuvi or the targeting stripes on the canopy....
So it seems the Kuvi is a auxiliary aid for the pilot to make a first approach on a target and then the bombardier adopts the target with his Lotfe
-
Unfortunately no clue.. But i´m looking for.
In the manual D. (Luft) T.7001 of the LotFe 7C you can find something about the KuVi..
It says initiating at Bombrun the pilot have to targeting roughly over the KuVi to bring the plane in direction for the LotFe and the Bombardier at the Lofe make the Rest.. I will translate this part of the Manunal word by word and post it here. A reason to fit the frame in the nose i can´t find.. But i´m searching...
In fact the KuVi and the LotFe seems work together.. How.. that´s to discover...
