  1. Thank you for the kind words. I totally agree, his place is here, among so many great modellers.
  2. Couple of things needed to be done before bringing the fuselage halves together - the MG 17s ... and the tail wheel with a little mud and dust
  3. Thank you! The radiator grills (one set for a G-6, the other for the F-2) received primer and paint: Some "grime" was then airbrushed and the excess was wiped away with soapy water The end results
  4. We did not consider selling the cowling conversion for the MG 17, but Lucian did make a mold and has cast a resin copy for me, so it is possible.
  5. @alaninaustria: thank you, there is more to come! @clarkis:Lucian used modelling saws made by "Crazy modeler" from China
  6. On both sides: The piano hinge on top was replicated with stretched sprue sections: And it now looks like an F nose:
  7. In order to bring the G-6 cowling to F standards a Trumpeter G-2 cowling from the spares box was used: Cut and replace the gun troughs:
  8. Thank you, the choice was obvious since the Revell kit captures the shape of the real thing like no other before it. Lucian really knows what he's doing, it would have been a pity not to.
  9. He took an Aires cockpit and modified it to the "F" standards: Safety harness was made from old paper, color is perfect: Instrument panel: ReVi:
  10. Lucian has done it again, and it is magnificent! He took Revell's Bf 109 G-6 and converted it into an F-2,"black 1" from IV./ JG 51
  11. If you build a Ju87G-2, please remove the oxygen installation, it is twice wrong: what is rendered is specific for the earlier B version and secondly and most importantly the G-2 had dispensed with it from the factory, being a low altitude bird.
  12. Guys, I am stuck on the canopy actuation mechanism for a "Malcolm" hood P-51B-10NA, lacking decent information. PLEASE HELP!
  13. Thank you, Sir! Will add them all, visible or not. This is my one and only Mustang so it better be right!
  14. First of all, please forgive the lack of apparent lack of promptitude in my reply, but I have been away. Mustang Racers are good looking, saw a few that are spectacular, those smooth lines! And the base kit, the old Revell looks good once you've removed the over-scale rivet heads, with the corrections needed to be done that are in the capability range of any average modeller. Thank you for the kind words, so glad you like what has been done so far on Big Mac Junior, personally I don't think it's mind blowing, just some average model by the high standards set here.
  15. The canopy actuation mechanism for the "Malcolm" hood is next. While having a general idea, I do require more information concerning it. Pictures, schematics, links to websites, anything, can anyone PLEASE help me?
  16. Could not use the resin part due size and shape issues. This is its replacement, test fit - parts to be painted and brackets that fix it to the turnover truss are not fitted yet:
  17. Thank you! The head armor is next. I could cut it from the Aires resin part, but first will see if better results could be achieved in styrene.
  18. Seat support frame is basically done. Does require a little cleanup, but we're there!
  19. Another book on the Mustang? Aren't there enough?
  20. Thank you, Gentlemen, this feedback is most encouraging, this blog shall proceed along the same lines. But this is far from the world's coolest build, there are here modellers of far greater skill than the author of this blog, and the stuff achieved so far pales in comparison with their work.
  21. A tubular brace was added, all that remains now is to add the mount points for the head armor:
  22. Aires has provided the armor for the pilot in one single piece. Like the rest of their cockpit correction set for the P-51B, it is inaccurate. The seat support is a work in progress, with stretched sprue coiled around styrene rods. The armor itself is sheet styrene cut to dimensions, while the brackets for the seat support, fixed on the top of the wing and not visible in the end were made to provide extra stability.
